In the early winter of 2010, 34-year-old Georgia beautician Jarmecca Whitehead seemed to have everything going for her. Nikki, a nickname used by everyone close to her, had more than one love interest. She was enrolled at Atlanta’s Bauder College to pursue a degree in fashion design. Most importantly, Nikki had recently been given full custody of her 16-year-old twin daughters. After a difficult childhood, Nikki felt like her life was finally coming together. When she was found battered and fatally stabbed inside her own home, it felt like a deeply tragic end to an already difficult life. When investigators dug in, the community was shocked by who they identified as their primary suspect.
