Jim Swanson’s Biography

Jim Swanson is the Chief Information Officer of Monsanto, a $15 billion agriculture company.  As Chief Information Officer, Jim is responsible for leveraging the company’s information technology to deliver long-term strategic vision.

Prior to joining Monsanto, Jim worked at Merck, as Vice President of IT for Global Human Health and Vice President of IT for Merck Research Labs.  Prior to those roles, he worked in other IT roles at Johnson & Johnson and SmithKline Beecham.

Jim was awarded as one of Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders in 2015.  He attended Drexel University where he received his Bachelor Science Degree in Bioscience and Biotechnology as well as his Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
