In September 1993, six scholars were disciplined by LDS Church leaders because of scholarly works they published that pushed back on the church. Dr. Margaret Toscano’s husband Paul was one of the September 6 and several years later, Margaret herself was also excommunicated.

Margaret's essay's "Joseph Smith's Teachings on Priesthood, Temple, and Women": A Critique, takes a hard look at what the Gospel Topics essay says and more importantly, what it doesn't say. We're so excited to be able to share this absolutely enlightening conversation with the wonderful Margaret Toscano on such a pivotal and important topic.
