On this episode of Mormonish Podcast, Rebecca and Landon are joined by aviation expert, Jim to take another look at the story President Nelson has told repeatedly about his brush with death on a flight to St. Georg in the mid 1970s.
The story has been repeated in books, church magazine articles, video dramatizations, and told at LDS general conferences. Each time the story changes and the details seem to get more and more dramatic.
Our aviation expert takes a look at what documentation we have for this flight, and more importantly, what documentation is missing. We also delve into the apologetics surrounding this story and expose their impossible narrative.

Now more than ever we are increasingly hearing end of the world and second coming of Christ rhetoric from multiple sources. Should we be taking this seriously? The Book of Revelation seems to be used as the definitive source to determine if the end of the world is indeed upon us. After all, it was written for our day... Or was it?
Biblical scholar Dan McClellan joins Mormonish Podcast to dissect The Book of Revelations as we explore who actually wrote it, who it was really written for, what does the vivid imagery mean, should we heed the warnings, and other burning questions.
If you've ever wondered about The Book of Revelations and it's influence on our lives today, you'll want to hear what Dan has to say!

In 2019, President Russell M. Nelson announced that there would be a new temple built in the Tooele area. Members of the LDS church were excited and speculated as to where it would be located. The temple site was announced and the renderings of the new temple made available in April of 2020. It was to be built in the small town of Erda, UT with only 3,000 residents and a completely rural environment.
But that wasn't all... It was soon announced that there would be a 167-acre pedestrian-oriented community right next to the temple. With 446 units ranging from single-family homes on half acre lots to townhouses and 54 senior housing units.
Residents of Erda were excited for a temple, but not the accompanying housing development. Could they have one without the other? Can you guess what the LDS church said?

How involved is the LDS church in Utah politics? Has it always been this way? In a recent LDS Conference talk, we learned about President of the Seventy, B. H. Roberts and his run for an 1895 congressional seat. This chapter in church history needs more daylight shone on it.
At odds with the brethren over the church’s interference with the election, B.H. Roberts was suspended from ecclesiastical office and eventually forced to sign The Political Manifesto of 1895 or face excommunication. For those who doubt the relationship between church and state in the early church, this is just one of many examples of the LDS faith's influence and control over politics in Utah and beyond.
Mormonish Podcast cohosts Rebecca and Landon are joined again by church history buff, Master Peace (Ron Yorgason), as we delve deeper into the ongoing conflict between church and state as Utah struggled to gain statehood. We can’t believe some of the information we uncovered, and neither will you!

On this episode of Mormonish Podcast, Rebecca and Landon are joined by Dr. John Lundwall to discuss the taking of heads in ancient cultures and the correlation, if any, to The Book of Mormon.
Dr. Lundwall clearly demonstrated the predominant cultures that existed before, during, and after the stories in The Book of Mormon took place. Cultures and cultural practices which seem to be entirely unmentioned in the LDS founding scripture. Or are they?

On this special Halloween episode of Mormonish Podcast, Rebecca and Landon are joined by a favorite returning guest, Ganesh Cherian to explore the tall tales surrounding the gruesome deaths of members of the mob at Carthage Jail who martyred Joseph and Hyrum Smith.
Many stories have been told and compiled detailing the horrible fates of members of the mob. But are these stories accurate? And what purpose do these stories serve in a broader framework or divine retribution?
Happy Halloween everyone, from Mormonish Podcast!

Would you like an inside look at LDS temple building? On this episode of Mormonish Podcast, Rebecca and Landon are so honored to be joined by Laurie Lee Hall to discuss her career building temples for the LDS church.
Laurie Lee was the chief LDS temple architect for 15 years, and also served as the director of design and construction for special projects and temples. She oversaw the design and building of 40 LDS temples. She also held several ecclesiastical leadership positions, including bishop and stake president.

On this episode of Mormonish Podcast, Rebecca and Landon are joined by author Mark Lines to delve into the mysterious Book of Enoch and its influences on the emerging theology of Joseph Smith.
Mark's book, "Joseph Smith and the Book of Enoch:The Influence on Mormon Theology" explores Enoch as one of the sources of Joseph Smith's literary works.
Joseph's "translation projects" the Book of Mormon, Book of Moses, the Inspired Bible and Book of Moses include prophecies, visions and allusions to the ancient biblical prophet Enoch.
Did this renewed interest in Enoch in the religious and scholarly world during that time period directly influenced Joseph Smith's writings? Or do the similarities between Joseph's writings and the Book of Enoch point to a more divine origin?
