This week, Billy jumped on the phone with Ian and Adam from Birds Of Tokyo who are out and about promoting their new single and tour. In just a few short years, the band have risen to the top of the charts - not just at home but around the world.

Adam and Ian talked about the early days finding their sound and how quickly they realised they had something special and within a couple of weeks of meeting, they were in the studio recording their first EP. Within a week, The Greatest Mistakes is already broken into the top 100 chart on Shazam, currently at #85.

The Greatest Mistakes is the follow up to their previous epic betrayal anthem Good Lord, which is fast approaching Double Platinum and was the most played Australian song of 2019’s second quarter. Frontman Ian Kenny explains, “It’s actually inspired by the same personal experience as the last single, but it’s got the perspective of thankfully being a bit further down the road. F*** it. Shake it off. Time to move on"

They’ll be performing at The Forum, Melbourne on September 26th as part of their near sold-out Australian tour. Birds of Tokyo have won the APRA Award for “Best Rock Work” a record five times and received multiple ARIA Awards, plus numerous gold/platinum certifications. They are also one of the country’s most popular live acts featuring on every major event that matters - from the AFL Grand Final and the State Of Origin Rugby League to Falls Festival and Splendour In The Grass.

Ian and Adam talked to Billy about personal pain that lead the new direction for the band, the power of a good beard, having fun making video clips again and more.

Billy jumped on the phone for a chat with British Glam Rockers, The Struts, as they land in Australia to conquer Australian audiences.

The Struts are the fresh kick in the guts Rock N Roll needed - combining all their influences of Aerosmith, Queen,The Darkness and Kiss. In just a few short years, the band have exploded onto the world stage playing all the big festivals around the world and opening for The Rolling Stones, Guns N Roses and Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl has said in many interviews around the world that The Struts are his favorite band that he has taken on tour!

The boys were a bit jet lagged, but they confessed to Billy how much they love Australia, why they picked Kesha for their platinum charting single, Body Talks, AND HOW MUCH THEY LOVE BILLY! Listen at the end - it gets a bit R-rated.

For this week's chat, Billy got on the line to Australia's ultimate Rock n Roll queen, Sarah McLeod-, lead singer of the very successful The Superjesus. The band are about to hit the road to celebrate 20 years of the Aria Award winning album, Sumo. They are also releasing some special live performances for vinyl and digital release. Sarah spilled the beans to Billy on the early days of the band: partying with Courtney Love, being a strong woman in a man's game, playing stages around the world with Powderfinger, Grinspoon, Spiderbait, INXS, Silverchair. She discussed how sorry she felt for our farmers and wanted to help by bringing some mates together to form Drought Breakers and record a cover of the classic Dragon song, Rain

Billy jumped on the phone for a chat with Powderfinger guitar legend Darren Middleton who is busy in rehearsals with his Beatles tribute supergroup ARC which includes Kram from Spiderbait, Mark Wilson from Jet, Davey Lane from You Am I.

Darren talked about the early days of picking up a guitar as a teenager listening to Angus Young. Then forming Powderfinger in a small garage in Brisbane and the rise to conqueor to music charts all around ther world.

Darren has been a lifelong Beatles fan and his supergroup are hitting the road to celebrate 50 years of the Beatles Abbey Road.

Billy confesses his love for Powderfinger as a important part of his teenage soundtrack.

Diesel is one of Australias most successful and hard working artists. From his early days playing in Johnny Diesel and The Injectors, Diesel decided to go it alone and start a solo journey that has seen him win ARIA artist of the year 3 years in a row and over 17 ARIA nominations over his 30 year career.

Diesel jumped on the phone with Billy to talk about his early days coming over from Perth to play the unforgiving pubs in Sydney and Melbourne.

Diesel is back with a new EP Sunset Suburbia and a 6 month tour  about to commence. He told Billy his passion for recording and touring is still the same as it was from day 1 and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Billy jumped on the phone with Kram, drummer from the legendary Australian band Spirderbait to talk about growing up down the road from Shepp in Finley and visiting Shepparton to go bowling at Star Bowl as well as  play some early Spiderbait shows and buy his first cricket bat!!.

Spiderbait are about to release all their chart topping singles on viynl as well as play some specials shows around the country to celebrate over 25 years of being a band.

For Billy's final job challenge of the week, he headed down to Cold Rock Ice Creamery to try his hand and making some sweet treats for the staff.

Cold Rock make all their own ice cream in-house with over 65 flavours and it doesn't stop there! They also have every single extra you could imagine like bounty bars, cherry ripes, skittles, M&M's, mint slices  - you name it, they can make it happen!

Billy was given a short demo of how they prepare the ice cream on the special one-of-a-kind cold slate to keep it nice and cold.

The staff were yelling out their orders and Billy got straight to work.

After a lot of wasted ice cream and mess on the floor, Billy ensured each staff member had an ice cream (of some sort) to enjoy.

For one of his final job challenges Billy was sent to work at The Deck Shepparton as a delivery driver for the lunchtime rush. The Deck is located in Maude Street Mall and is an institution in the Shepparton community.

On Thursday's they do a lunch special with includes a delicious burger (chicken, beef, vegetarian) fries and a coke for just $10. In a very short period of time the burger deal has become very popular as word spreads. In total, we had over 65 orders to deliver to various buisnesses around Shepparton.

Day 3 of Billy's jobs challenge saw him head to the team at TJM 4 x 4 at 8005 Melbourne Road, Shepparton.

Billy headed straight out back to the workshop to meet the team and they put him straight on the tools fitting new heavy duty suspension to a ute ready to go off-roading. This task involved cutting suspension coils and refitting. Of course Billy wasn't left alone or that could have been a disaster! So the boys helped him through and after a few cuts and bruises to his hands (and ego), Billy go the job done. BUT, the lads had saved the best for last and they got Billy to fit an air snorkel to a brand new $70,000 truck, which Billy was very hesitant in doing...for obvious reasons.

Billy not being one to back down from a challenge, did not let that stop him and got to work drilling the required holes and fitting the snorkel in one go.

For his 2nd job, Billy tried his hand at being a plumber with the team at JLT Plumbing (located at 7955 Goulburn Valley Highway, Kialla). 

Billy was put straight to work cleaning out a blocked storm water drain with a high pressure hose! It took a while but Billy held the hose and moved it down the blocked drain under the careful supervision of the JLT team.

BUT that was not all! The drain was still blocked and Billy had to go down the manhole and clean it out by hand much to the amusement of everyone watching.
