Julia Michaels & Ben Rice join Kyle Meredith to discuss scoring Disney’s newest animated feature, Wish. The songwriting duo takes us behind the scenes of what it was like to not only land a Disney soundtrack but on the legendary studio’s 100th anniversary, with the backstory on what led to getting the call and the emotions that came with it. Michaels & Rice go on to tell us how they had to change their typical songwriting style in favor of writing for ensembles and imaginary characters, how they worked alongside composer Dave Mesker, and how they found the various styles used within each song. We also hear about creating songs “I’m A Star,” “Welcome To Rosas,” and “Knowing What I Know Now,” and what Michaels might be up to next.
