  • JFD550: That Man From Rio, The Rift, China O'Brien
JFD is back and this week, it's action packed! Alright, maybe not packed. In fact, there's some pretty boring parts in all these movies. But still, there's definitely some action in there!  Up first, Sean tries to convince Parker that the French can be cool by exhibiting That Man From Rio from 1964. An action-adventure film directed by Philippe de Broca and starring Jean-Paul Belmondo (the same team that brought us Le Magnifique), its about a guy on military leave and the daughter of a murdered man who go on adventure to Brazil to find some stolen ancient statues that could hold the secret to a lost treasure.  Next, we have The Rift from 1990, the tale of a crew of a submarine who go looking for the crew of another submarine mission who have gone missing, but when they discover a secret experiment and a whole lot of weird ocean-dwelling creatures, things begin to go wrong real quick.  And finally, we have martial artist Cynthia Rothrock in her first starring role in an American film, China O'Brien, about a female cop who leaves the big city for her small Utah hometown, only to find it overrun with low-lives and thugs. Shot in 1988 but shelved for 2 years and released directly to video, it didn't necessarily make Rothrock a household name, but did introduced her into our hearts.  All this plus getting ripped off on pixels, David Arquette disappoints, political anger, film babes back from the dead (then dead again), more Star Wars chat than Kevin is comfortable with (again), the hottest blu-rays of the week and so much more. • JFD549: The House on Bare Mountain, VideoBone, Edward Penishands
We know it can be hard to get yourself going at the head of a new year, so we've decided to review three pornography films to get your blood racing. How long into this episode can you last before exploring other options? Celebrate the certification of our erections with this Happy Nude Year episode by #DonloydingNow! Up first! What do werewolves, boobs, and Nic Refn have in common? Well, probably several things, but certainly The House on Bare Mountain, from 1962 is among them. And how are these disparate elements interconnected? You'll have to hear our review of this early nudie-cutie to find out! Next up! Y'all remember Videodrome, the Cronenberg movie? Well, y'all remmeber VideoBone, the unremarkable porno parody of it from 1986? We didn't, either. And we hope James Woods never finds out about it, or what we said here. Finally! Of course, it's Edward Penishands, from 1991! How could it not be Edward Penishands? How did it take us this long to review Edward Penishands? Has Tim Burton seen Edward Penishands? Some of this and more: answered on the show! All this plus Parker's Wholesome Christian Fun & weird think-pieces, Sean Byron's patented two-word movie reviews, Kevin's familytime holidaze, Nathan for Who?, haunted garage-rock, these pornos are making me hum a few bars, a personal phone-call for Kevin, potato chips, bone machines, mild Skype-based fidelity problems, "What?", some world-famous junkmail callers, the curse of the beerwolf, when copyright is copywrong, tortured monkeys, our weekly news plus blu-ray picks and even more! • JFD Rewind #7 - The Seventh Rewind
It's time for JFD Rewind Episode Number Seven! As we perfunctorily/redundantly explain at the head of each of these annual compilation clip shows, your charming Junk Food Dinner hosts are unwilling and/or unable to perform their regular duties in this very hectic holiday time period. However, as has been explained prior, this inability to produce a new weekly show does not preclude us from our obligation to deliver some form of audio content to the feed. So it's come to this again: yet another?!?! Junk Food Dinner clip show. As we're fond of both the elements of surprise and laziness, we'll forgo the usual descriptors here as to what the actual contents of this cut-and-pasted effort truly are. If you're the sort of curious cat who'd actually donloyd this thing, you'll listen along with us and discover what made the cut for this year's compilation. And if not, you could still pretend you did and probably fool us. That said, we jammed some pretty great stuff into this year's edition, just because we love y'all so much. If y'all love what ya hear, sign up for our Patreon thing to throw us a few bones (in exchange for some boners). All this plus witty banter between friends, ghosts of podcast friendship, Bootsy's holidaze, zero Nerd Newsies, no week's DVD & blu-ray releases, partial confidentiality, continued lack of overt police involvement, synchronized robot voices, overlong musical interludes, rogue boners, wanton sneezes, spooky belches, sinister gleeks and too much more! Direct Donloyd Here Got a movie suggestion for the show, want to give your opinion on a movie we talked about or just want to tell us we suck? Drop us a line at [email protected]. Or leave us a voicemail: 347-746-JUNK (5865). Also, if you like the show, please take a minute and subscribe and/or comment on us on iTunes, Stitcher, Blubrry or Podfeed.net. We'd love to see some of your love on Patreon - it's super easy and fun to sign up for the extra bonus content. We'll fight the cola wars for your love and support.

  • JFD547: Bikini Drive-in, Freeway, Inland Empire
We're getting close to putting a bow on 2020 and wrapping up this God-forsaken year, so for our second-to-last show of the year, we're diving into three uniquely weird and sleazy flicks for a uniquely weird and sleazy year. Up first, a young woman (Kim Taylor) inherits a struggling drive-in movie theater from her recently deceased grandfather. But when she realizes that the theater is in a ton of debt, she calls on her bikini-clad friends to help drum up business in Fred Olen Ray's Bikini Drive-in from 1995. Then, Reese Witherspoon plays a troubled teen on the run after her abusive parents are sent to jail. When she runs afoul of Kiefer Sutherland, a serial killer and pedophile, she defends herself and almost kills him, but finds herself on the wrong side of the law in the sleazy adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood, Freeway from 1996. And finally, we observe David Lynch at his Lynchiest in 2006's Inland Empire. A 3 hour epic, shot on a consumer-grade digital camera with Laura Dern as an actress slipping in and out of reality. All this plus cereal news, the year that wasn't, Clockwork Orange theories, the death of Zeus, more Star Wars chat than Kevin is comfortable with, the hottest blu-rays of the week and so much more. • JFD546: Planes, Trains and Automobiles, The Alien Factor, Ninja Zombie
It's been a long & lonely year in Junk Food Dinner land, without all the late-nite Corn Gorn partying and early-morning Ghoul Summer partying we're used to. The only silver lining in this hellish cloudscape has been the steadfast support of our loyal Dom Deluise Patreon Patrons, who have pledged to keep us warm all winter long with their hot-ass movie picks. And this week we got three scorchers! Up first! Y'all remember that popular winter holiday everyone celebrates and makes movies about? Well, 1987's Planes, Trains and Automobiles (picked by Kessa), isn't actually about Christmas - nor, despite the appearance of John "Halloween" Candy is it about All Hallow's Eve. No, good friends of podcastingland, it's that John Hughes movie about Thanksgiving, for some reason! Also featuring Steve Martin! As one-half of an odd-coupling with none-other than the Candy-man himself! It's the one where the grown men share a hotel bed. Next up! We've seen Nightbeast. You've seen Nightbeast. We hadn't seen The Alien Factor. But we've all seen The Alien Factor. That's because, of course, 1978's earlier-shot-and-long-shelved The Alien Factor (picked by Brendon) is more or less just Nightbeast with worse cameras. But that doesn't mean we love it (or Baltmore-area schlockmaster Don Dohler) any less for it! Finally! It's a third Patreon-picked film! With a zombie who is also a ninja! Of course, we're talking about the recently unearthed-by-AGFA Ninja Zombie from 1992. It's that weird and wacky movie that seems like it was shot primarily as an excuse to play with samurai swords in a public park. And isn't that what life is all about?! All this plus a christmas-grinch's podcasting heart turns three times larger, grandma's nips by popular demand, Japanese yuletide styles, regional theme park foods, Garth Brooks makes an appearance, the uncles are listening, this time Kevin's the skype-y one!, kentucky fried shamelessness, Hunter & Gunn: A Lovesong, a bonafide flurry of emoji chatter, eggnog hangovers, sci-fidelity ambience, ginger-spiced sneezes our weekly news plus blu-ray picks and even more! Direct Donloyd Here Got a movie suggestion for the show, or better yet an opinion on next week's movies? Drop us a line at [email protected]. Or leave us a voicemail: 347-746-JUNK (5865). • JFD545: High Anxiety, the Funhouse, Nothing but Trouble
We're back with an almost the end of the year cry for help! We all accidentally picked high stress movies about paranoia and anxiety this week! First, Mel Brooks plays a pyschiatrist who gets mixed up in a conspiracy in the Hitchcock spoof "High Anxiety." Next, four teens run afoul of a Frankenstein murder in Tobe Hooper's "The Funhouse," a movie with no evil clowns. Finally, Chevy Chase and Demi Moore get caught up in some pretty average bureaucracy in the movie that killed so many careers -- "Nothing but Trouble." ALl this plus flatulence chat, nerd news, dvds, sad nerd news, Tom from Adelaide, Kevin wants your soup, Thanksgiving chat and so much more! Donloyd Here

  • JFD544: F.A.R.T. The Movie, American Flatulators, Les Patterson Saves the World
Happy Fartsgiving, everyone! We know that a day full of stuffing your face with meats, veggies and carbs is certainly going to lead to some intestinal discomfort. So we're here to wallow in the stinky aftermath with you and we've brought along three fart-centric "films" to help pass the time (and the gas). Up first, we have a tape so outrageous for the first several years of its existence, you could only get it in novelty shops! Of course we're talking about the notorious F.A.R.T. The Movie from 1991, starring Joel Weiss as Russell, a dude who's two favorite things in life are watching TV and farting. But when his wife leaves him at home on New Year's Eve to watch nothing but fart-related programming, will he have a change of heart (or change of farts)?   Next, we take a look at a 50-minute parody of then-popular American Gladiators TV show titled American Flatulators from 1995. It's just like Gladiators but all the competition is based around, you guessed it, farting. And finally, we take a look at the film that essentially killed the Australian film industry with one big fart, Les Patterson Saves the World from 1987. It stars infamous Aussie gross-out humorist Barry Humphries and the titular Patterson (as well as his alter ego Dame Edna Everage) as he acts as a diplomat to the Middle East and inadvertently saves the world from biological warfare.  All this plus Sean's love of Peacock, Parker getting down with the sickness, a call from the Ghost of Norman Bates, inappropriate Monty Python stories, Freddy Krueger news, the hottest blu-rays of the week and so much more. LISTEN NOW: MP3 Direct Donloyd Also, if you like the show, please take a minute and subscribe and/or comment on us on iTunes, Stitcher, Blubrry or Podfeed.net. Check us out on Facebook and Twitter! We'd love to see some of your love on Patreon - it's super easy and fun to sign up for the extra bonus content. We will pass this gas with your love and support.
