  • AM/PM Rituals

The Panty Kickers believe that by automating some tasks in your daily life you can free up space to be creative about solving the problem of, “how do I…?”. Let them help you fill in the blanks by adding structure around the wiggly parts of the day that can start to own you.

    Carolyn says:

    * Make a list of ideal rituals to work toward.* Do 30 days of strict rituals to see how it makes you feel once you get over the hump.* AM Rituals: Wake up and Hydrate, do 10-15 minutes of yoga, fill in the five minute journal, do 5-10 minutes meditation* PM Rituals: Turn off the TV and phone before bed, do the 5 minute journal, read for 20 minutes, have some intimate time (talking/sexing – shouts to Paul 🙂 ), get to bed early.

    Becca says:

    * Pick a couple of “book-end” routines to help you open and close the day. * Putting pen to paper is a great way to empty your thoughts.* AM Rituals: Wake up, look at calendar, order the important events of the day, get dressed with intention (put pride in appearance), connect with partner, eat a healthy breakfast.* PM Rituals: Clean up the house/kitchen, pack all the bags, do some self care, read for 15-20 minutes, have intimacy with partner, go to sleep early!

    BOOK MENTION: 5 Minute Journal

In the morning write 3 things you’re grateful for, 3 things you want to get done that day and 1 affirmation. At night, write 3 amazing things that happened that day and 1 thing you could improve upon.

BOOK MENTION: Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod

Homework:  Write your list of AM/PM Rituals that you would like to try to hit every morning and evening to bookend your day.

  • Inside World vs Outside World

Can you outlook actually change the world around you? The Panty Kickers say YES, take off those shit colored glasses and make moves!

    Carolyn says:

    * Everything in your life started with a thought, so changing your thoughts can make your life anything that you want it to be. Check your thoughts and see what’s really there. What’s driving you?* Do you think things are happening TO you? Or are you the creator of your current situation? If you are the creator, then take responsibility and use your thoughts to make the next step.* Use the “uh-uh bitch not today!” method of pushing away negative thoughts.

    Becca says:

    * Be a Katie! When you’re positive everyone want to be around you and connective energy will be on your side. * Beat down your little negative thoughts with a big powerful positive one.* Have a self meeting every morning. Give yourself 20 or so minutes to sit quietly and plan your day – organizing everything in a way that makes sense while paying attention to how you feel.

    A couple more takeaways:

    * Take charge! Don’t let the day RUN you.* Be aware if you are trying to mask your thoughts with pointless distractions.*

Homework:  Take a week and do a self check in every morning and see if having your day better planned helps you achieve a more positive outlook.

  • What does it mean to “eat healthy”?

SHOW NOTES – Episode 5, Season 1 – Healthy Eating

Eating healthy is not just for losing weight, your body is your temple and it deserves reverence and respect. When you eat better you have better energy, positivity, and power!

Ten easy ways to move toward healthier eating:

    1. Stop eating so much fucking bread.  If, like Oprah, you love bread- try having a little bit at the end of the meal- and god forbid don’t eat bread with pasta.

    2.  Stop drinking your calories.

    3.  Stop eating weird processed foods – if it has more than 5 ingredients, it’s junk food no matter what it says on the package.  Eat food in its normal form.

    4.  Avoid eating fast food (fried food).

    5.  Don’t carbo load at breakfast.

    6.  Focus on LEAN protein and fiber.

    7.  Listen. To. Your. Body. (And belly) (and butt)

    8.  Stop eating in front of a screen, be mindful.

    9.  Move your body.

    10.  Drink water!

    BLOG Mention!:

Cookie and Kate: Great vegetarian cooking inspiration

Smitten Kitchen: Great all kinds of recipes but tons under the vegetarian tab

Homework: Use an app (we like My Fitness Pal) to track everything you eat for 3 days in a row and face the truth about what you’re really putting in your body.

  • Q&A Willpower vs Discipline

SHOW NOTES – Q&A 4, Season 1 Okay okay, I get what willpower is, but how does that differ from discipline?

    Carolyn says:

    * Willpower is the energy it takes to start something and discipline is the focus and determination it takes to continue on.* Willpower is short term where discipline is long term.* Whatever you didn’t get in childhood you must give yourself as an adult.

    Becca says:

    * There may be an innate sensibility toward living a disciplined life, but this is also something you are able to learn.* Track your day hour by hour for a couple of days and see if there are moments you are wasting which could be used to work toward a larger goal. * The struggle you feel is temporary, once you get to the top of the hill you can slide you happy ass down! Easy peasy!

  • Willpower

    SHOW NOTES – Episode 4, Season 1 – Willpower

Willpower can be the rocket fuel that makes attaining your goals possible, but how do you keep it up???B

    Carolyn says:

    * Willpower has a lot to do with the energy it takes to get something started. * Try to get all of the new things you want to do done in the morning when your willpower is the strongest. * Get excited about the results rather than dreading the process.

    Becca says:

    * Think about what you GET to do rather than what you HAVE to do.* Don’t try to do too much at once, focus clearly on one thing you want to change. Pay attention to the one thing that keeps bothering you and start there.* Do small things, one step at a time, to build confidence. * Willpower is like a rubber band, the more you use it the more elastic it becomes. * Focus on making permanent changes rather than short term things you can’t wait to not do anymore.

    A couple more takeaways:

    * Vision boards can be useful, but we prefer writing our goals down on a piece of paper and reading it every morning.* Don’t drink shots of liquor out of every bottle in the liquor cabinet – you’ll definitely vomit!* Making an emotional connection to what you’re doing is key to prioritizing your goals and using willpower to make progress.

Homework:  Think of a time you successfully employed willpower and a time where you failed.  What did these times have in common?  What was the differing factor that you could focus on to be successful in the future?

  • Q&A – Is it okay to SNOOP?

SHOW NOTES – Q&A 3, Season 1 Your favorite Panty Kickers return to answer the age old question for crazies: “Is it okay to snoop on your romantic partner?”

    Carolyn says:

    * Take a look at yourself to see if your partner is truly untrustworthy or if YOU are just a person with trust issues. If it is the latter, do some work on yourself before taking on a new partner, it’s not fair to drag an honest person through your hangups.* If it’s the former: follow your gut. If you fear your partner is up to something, they probably are!* Ultimately, if you have the impulse to snoop, you can pretty much guarantee there are some issues in your relationship that need to be examined. It’s much better to start with honest conversation rather than invading your partner’s (well-deserved) privacy.

    Becca says:

    * IF you are going to snoop, you better be prepared to take what you find and use it to exit the relationship when it, inevitably, can’t be explained away.* Give your partner the right to an interior life that isn’t all about you. Great relationships are built on two individuals choosing to be together. * Use your words. If your partner is doing something you don’t like or acting shady just talk to them about it. It’s always best to have a relationship where open and honest communication is the foundation.
