In August 2009, GALLERY CRAWL headed to Rowan Morrison Gallery in Oakland to meet Carl Auge and learn about the inspiration behind the enigmatic paintings featured in his RESOUND exhibition. Nearby at Swarm Gallery, installation artist Vaughn Bell introduces her adopt-a-biosphere project, which is part of the NATURAL SELECTION exhibition, featuring painter Josh Keyes. Reenie Charriere discusses her WASHED UP installation in the gallery's project room.

In May 2009 GALLERY CRAWL headed over to Mills College Art Museum in Oakland to interview five graduate students about their thesis exhibitions, which were inspired by a wide range of subjects including California coastal culture, facial hair, long-lost correspondence, and escapism. The graduate students' collective exhibition is titled YOUNG AMERICANS.

In April 2009, GALLERY CRAWL visits with photographer Melanie Pullen about her latest series VIOLENT TIMES at Stephen Wirtz Gallery. At Rena Bransten Gallery, we check out Tara Tucker's FOREIGN RELATIONS exhibition and Marci Washington's DARK MIRROR. In March 2009 GALLERY CRAWL focuses on two San Francisco exhibitions of contemporary Chinese art: LIMN Gallery's dual show, Ming Ren's POETRY IN PAINTING and CHINA AVANT GARDE - LANDSCAPE IN TRANSIT and Mark Wolfe Contemporary Art's A (RE)TURN TO (RE)FORM.

In February 2009 GALLERY CRAWL interviewed Bill Fontana about his sound installation SPIRALING ECHOES at SF City Hall. A few blocks away, local art collector Robert Shimshak explained his interest in musical scores and how his collection inspired a new exhbition, EVERY SOUND YOU CAN IMAGINE at New Langton Arts.

In January 2009, GALLERY CRAWL checks out the San Francisco Dump's Artist-In-Residence program, visiting with current residents Christine Lee and David King. Across town, we chat with Lori Damiano, the featured artist in the University High School Professional Artist Series.
