The stage is set for some pretty intense discussions over the next few days as Chinese President Xi Jinping visits President Trump for a high-stakes state visit. Among the topics set to be discussed are AI and the war with Iran. During his visit to the United Nations yesterday, President Trump said it would be a great meeting and that he and President Xi have a great relationship. That closeness has members of Congress upset, including some Republicans.
Looking back on 2026, arguably the biggest story in Utah will be the pushback to data center expansions. From Box Elder County to Mona and down south to Iron County, communities across the state have been voicing a lot of concerns with these plans. And the data backs it up -- new polling just out from the Deseret News and Hinckley Institute of Politics finds that a majority of Americans -- and even more so, Utahns -- don't want these data centers in their community. For more on that, Deseret News reporter Leah Bowers joins Inside Sources to explain.
Forget that springtime basketball bracket tradition -- Holly's favorite competition begins today. The hosts finish off the show discussing the chonky, chunky, curvaceous bears in Alaska that are stealing hearts across the globe.
What drives a person to continue in "the faith"? What really keeps a person believing in God or religion in general? New research says it all comes down to the family -- that's the central role in passing faith down to future generations. But we can get even more granular than that: fathers. Deseret News family reporter Lois Collins explains her latest article. The hosts then pivot to additional research showing that older adults who take care of grandchildren experience slower cognitive decline.
The economy and the future of the war with Iran were both on President Trump's mind this morning as he addressed the United Nations General Assembly. He hinted at a possible deal with the Middle East country, while also saying our economy is stronger than ever. Greg and Holly discuss some of the President's remarks before sharing their thoughts on the ongoing fight between the press and the White House.
More and more millennials in the state are becoming homeowners, but they're also finding themselves stuck in starter homes for a lot longer than previous generations. For this discussion, we're talking about the people born between 1980 and 1996. A new analysis of Census and labor data says there's been a sharp increase in millennial homeownership over the last 10 years or so, but it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Millennial homeowner and Inside Sources executive producer Andy Cupp gives his perspective on the situation.
A new report from the Disability Law Center (DLC) launches some pretty strong claims against the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, saying their lack of oversight and action played a role in the deaths of three men with disabilities earlier this year. Investigators say three men with disabilities were left alone in a running vehicle for hours last February, when their provider left them in his garage and went upstairs to eat and watch TV. While the legal process to determine fault plays out, DLC says the state should take a closer look at the alleged role it played in the tragedy.
There are just 42 days -- six weeks -- until the midterm elections. Already, some ballots for Utah voters are already on their way; a majority won't be sent out until the beginning of October. With the days counting down, Greg and Holly spend some time checking in on the election. What races are they watching? What ballot initiatives do voters need to know about? And where's all the money coming from for these races -- both locally and nationally? Political analyst and partner at Morgan & May Public Affairs, Taylor Morgan, joins to share his insights.
The rain this morning was the perfect introduction to fall; or, if you're more proper, autumn. For those of us who don't do well in the heat, fall is a welcome reprieve. On this first day of a new season, Holly and Greg talk about the pumpkin shortage here in Utah. Then they shift to something fun and controversial: candy corn. Yay or nay? Listen for their takes.
