Over his 44 years working with the law, one of the things Greg's been privileged to do is help crime victims find support and healing. In fact, he serves on a judicial commission to address those kinds of things. But a recent KSL Investigation finds what could be a gap in victim care, and it's being brought to light due to a police shootout in Hyrum. More than a year later, people living in the neighborhood where the shooting took place are still dealing with property damage… and without much recourse. We get details on the investigation and Greg shares his thoughts.
After much debate, back-and-forth among the city council, and a lot of public feedback, it appears a plan to change city code in Spanish Fork -- which would allow a data center to be built -- will go ahead. The city council voted 3-2 last night to change part of city code dealing with data centers with onsite power generation facilities. But what does that mean? What happens next? And how do city leaders find balance between those vehemently opposed to data centers and those who welcome the opportunities? Spanish Fork Mayor Mike Mendenhall explains the development.
Utah's own Senator Curtis is making national headlines today over his push for Congress to subpoena members of both the Trump and Biden families. The Senator says he's seriously concerned about corruption and misuse of presidential family relationships. What's notable is that Senator Curtis isn't just concerned about Donald Trump Jr. and the lavish wedding after-party gift from a Russian oligarch, but also about Hunter Biden and his business dealings with Ukraine and China. Deseret News Congressional Correspondent Cami Mondeaux joins Inside Sources to break it all down.
Yahtzee, Bingo, Polly Pocket, and Tickle Me Elmo -- all toys and games that at one time were incredibly popular. Now, they have the chance to live on forever. Those games -- along with many others -- are on the short list for the National Toy Hall of Fame's Class of 2026.
Another U.S. Supreme Court justice is in Utah today -- the second one in just a few weeks. That feels pretty different! But what makes today's visit even more unique is why it's happening. Justice Samuel Alito is in town today to celebrate the recent appointment of one of the new justices on the Utah Supreme Court, Justice Jay Jorgensen.
It's not a new conversation, and it tends to come up anytime there's an election looming: age limits for elected officials. The recent return to Congress by Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell has refueled conversations about age limits. So how old is too old for public office? Does it even matter? Deseret News Opinion Editor Jay Evensen poses that question in a new piece; he joins us for a conversation.
We haven't talked much about the state's wildfires in several weeks, but that doesn't mean things are all quiet. In fact, some fires are still underway and some new ones sparked just this weekend. And between the ongoing fires and the more devastating fires from earlier this year, some of the recreation areas Utahns love to enjoy have seen damage. In this segment, Greg and Holly take a closer look at how the fires could affect Utah's recreation industry long into the future.
You've heard it said time and time again in pageants of all kinds: What matters to you most? Or, what do you wish for? And the answer is almost always "world peace." But is world peace actually attainable? Today is International Day of Peace, a day set aside to promote the idea of peace both on a large worldwide scale and in our own lives. Greg and Holly discuss personal peace before turning to Disagree Better CEO Marianne Viray to discuss peaceful political conversations.
Anytime there's a sports game, there's bound to be taunting -- it's just a thing that happens. But when those taunts and chants turn into personal attacks, that's not good. And that's what happened this weekend in a football game between BYU and Colorado State University. Parts of the crowd yelled expletives at the Cougars, a common derogatory phrase often directed at members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
