Travelers rejoice -- the new Salt Lake City International Airport is finally finished. This morning, airport and city leaders held a ribbon-cutting for the final gates to open with the new project. That doesn't mean we won't see future expansions. But for now, the construction crews are finally getting a break... 12 years after the project began. Greg and Holly reminisce about how much has changed at the airport and the memories they've made there.
There are new charges for James Comey, the former FBI Director. The prosecution comes from the Department of Justice, which claims he broke the law by directing FBI staff to leak information to the press. But Comey's lawyers argue that the statute of limitations has expired. At the same time, a federal judge has ruled that Comey's daughter, Maurene, must be reinstated to her position as a federal prosecutor with the DOJ after being fired in 2025.
Utah drivers... we have a problem -- we're not really great at pulling over for emergency vehicles. New data from AAA says 90% of drivers say they pull over or slow down when passing a disabled vehicle, tow truck, or emergency vehicle. But other data from AAA says driving behavior tells a different story. That data says only 64% of vehicles moved lanes or slowed down -- more than one-third of drivers didn't do anything. For more on what the Utah law actually says, the Inside Sources hosts turn to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Zach Randall.
Utahns get the chance to weigh in on two amendments this election: one dealing with constitutional amendment notices and another dealing with the threshold for citizen ballot initiatives that involve raising taxes. Today, Inside Sources digs into the second one, Amendment B. There are arguments on both sides of the issue, but a large number of voters say the language of the amendment is still confusing. Ballotpedia backs this up, releasing new details today on Utah's ballot measure readability; Utah comes in with a title readability grade level of 21.
For more on Amendment B and why voters should or should not vote for it, Greg and Holly are joined by two guests: Scott Cuthbertson, spokesperson for "No on B" for Utahns Protecting our Constitution, joins first to explain why he's opposed to the initiative. Billy Hesterman, President of the Utah Taxpayers Association, then joins with his perspective on why he supports the amendment.
How many of you actually compare the shelf price for something with the price that rings up at the cash register? Do you pay attention during the sale, or even afterwards on the receipt? Or are you like many people who don't even notice if there's a discrepancy? There's a new lawsuit out from the Federal Trade Commission and 20 states -- including Utah -- against Dollar General. The suit claims that the retailer ignored the shelf prices and instead charged customers more at the register. We explain the suit and discuss the overall uneasiness American consumers feel about the potential for AI to be involved in pricing.
A Weber County man found himself booked into jail this weekend after police say he was putting up signs identifying automatic license-plate readers like Flock cameras. But what exactly is the crime here? He didn't destroy or harm the cameras; he just put up signs. With how controversial these cameras have become, some say this kind of thing only adds more fuel to the fire. KSL Legal Analyst Greg Skordas breaks down the situation and how he would treat it.
There's now one week to go until Election Day. Across the country, Democrats are experiencing a wave of popularity, just like many expected and as tradition dictates in a midterm election cycle. But here in Utah, it's a different story. While unaffiliated voter registration continues to grow here, the overall feeling from voters is that Republican candidates are still the way to go. That's according to new polling from the Deseret News and Hinckley Institute of Politics. Dr. Holly Richardson and Greg Skordas discuss why Utah's trend appears to be different from the rest of the country.
