Greg and guest host Marty Carpenter finish the week chatting about the big movie of the week with the co-host of the KSL Movie Show, Andy Farnsworth, and guest host Larry Tassone from Megaplex Theatres. They discuss the movie Clayface and answer the movie question of the week: What's your favorite Chris Evans movie?
With the midterm election just days away now -- and Department of Justice election monitors on their way to Utah -- how are voters here feeling? The Deseret News is out with new polling about Utah voter confidence in the election, with roughly 77% of voters saying they are confident that their mail-in votes will be counted "as intended."
Should data center developers pay for their own power and energy? If we took a straw poll nationwide, Greg and Marty feel pretty confident that a majority of Americans would say 'yes.' And Utah's Senator Mike Lee is on the same train. In fact, he's authored a bill in the nation's capital that would hold data center developers responsible for energy costs.
It's going to be quite the party downtown this afternoon. The Utah Jazz are taking on the New Orleans Pelicans here at the Delta Center for their season home opener! The Utah Jazz had a rough start to the season earlier this week when they lost to the Memphis Grizzlies. But there's some hope for a home-court advantage tonight. For a preview of tonight's matchup, KSL Sports Jazz Insider Ben Anderson joins Inside Sources.
A bill in memory of a boy who died from child abuse in Weber County might get a second chance. This is the Gavin Peterson Bill, which was sponsored by State Senator Luz Escamilla. The bill failed last session, but she says she's bringing it back in the hopes of strengthening child safety protections. At the same time, Gavin's uncle is pushing for the proposal, speaking for the first time since this whole tragedy unfolded.
How long does it take to save for a starter home? New research says the time has doubled since 2019. On average, it now takes a renter 16 years to save up for their first home purchase… and that's only putting 3.5% down on a $335,000 house. For more on the new report from the Julian Bond Institute and what it means for young people who hope to someday buy a home, the hosts turn to Skyler Ford, a mortgage advisor with Neo Home Loans. He also talks about mortgage rates falling a bit for the first time since August.
Record growth for decades here in Utah has taken its toll, and we're in a bit of a predicament now. Specifically, water -- do we have enough water to sustain continued growth? That was the basis of a question this week at a conference here in Utah -- are we sacrificing our natural resources for economic development? In this segment, Greg and Marty have a conversation on that.
Utahns in the Hurricane area woke up to feet of mud in some places following devastating floods yesterday and through the night. Water was captured on video rushing down neighborhood streets, leaving thick clay-like mud in and around more than 100 homes and RVs. The mayor of Hurricane has declared a local emergency due to the damage. For the latest on the mud and the clean-up efforts now underway, Greg Skordas and guest host Marty Carpenter speak with KSL reporter Madi Vollmer on the ground there in Hurricane.
