A bit of weather change is finally on the way -- cooler temperatures and incoming monsoonal moisture are on deck throughout the rest of the week. Holly is so excited for fall and some cold temperatures! But the incoming changes may be short-lived… we may heat back up again before it really cools down. KSL Meteorologist Matt Johnson explains.
Here's an interesting question for you: should people trust human fact-checkers or AI fact-checkers more when it comes to politics? One may certainly be faster, but is either more accurate? There are certainly pros and cons to both sides; Greg and Holly discuss their thoughts and read listeners' texts with their thoughts.
A bit of developing news this morning -- the defense team representing Tyler Robinson argues that the prosecution should not be able to push for aggravated murder charges. In a new motion just filed, the defense says there were no aggravating factors in the shooting of Charlie Kirk and that their client shouldn't stand trial for aggravated murder and six other charges. KSL Legal Analyst Greg Skordas shares his perspective and continued frustration with the timeline on the case thus far.
During this primary election season, many have watched the Republican candidates as an example of how voters feel about President Trump and the MAGA movement. But with last night's primaries, we're also looking at the Democratic Party and whether Democrats want their party to go more central or go even more to the left. Your voice, your vote -- what could yesterday's primaries tell us about the upcoming general election?
The Trump Administration is 0 for 22 in its fight to get voter rolls access in all 50 states. And now -- to add to those losses -- a federal judge has told the United States Postal Service (USPS) to ignore the President's earlier executive order, which would have barred the postal service from delivering mail-in ballots in states that refused to turn over voter information to the Department of Justice. Greg gives us his legal takes.
According to the Associated Press, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will give agents gloves that can deliver electric shocks. It almost sounds like a taser, but in glove form. Greg's confused about the technology, and Holly hates the idea. They have a discussion about their concerns and how they think ICE could better enforce the law while also maintaining dignity for every human being.
It's not a great outlook for the Great Salt Lake, even with an increase in water conservation from everyday Utahns. The lake is approaching one of its lowest levels in recorded history. Water managers say things could have been a whole lot worse this year, but that doesn't mean the worst couldn't happen next year. KSL NewsRadio's Adam Small has been digging into plans from state leaders to help the lake just in case we have another severely lackluster winter.
Inflation cooled just a hair last month, but it's still above where the Feds want it to be. Even with that decrease, prices for just about everything remain high. So why the disconnect? And could this teeny tiny slip in inflation push the Feds to lower interest rates... especially when mixed with that dismal jobs report that came out last week? Right on the Money -- how will this affect your bottom line? Joining the program is Dr. Michael Kofoed, associate professor of economics at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
It's finally here! For thousands of Utah students, today is the first day back to school. Two districts are back in session: Granite and Iron. With a new year comes a whole lot of stress, uncertainty, and anxiety... for both the kids and the parents. Holly is sending one of her kids to junior high school this year; she talks about the anxiety both she and her daughter are feeling right now. Granite School District Superintendent Ben Horsley joins the program to share updates on how the first day of school is going in his district and the resources available to help kids transition in the new year.
