LeBron is limited with a pain in his butt. Marcus Smart is out through the beginning of next week. Maxi Kleber is already getting an MRI. Enough!
After hitting on all the key storylines from day two, Anthony dives into the live comments, where listeners want to know what happened to Dalton Knecht.
Anthony details the various injuries the Lakers are somehow already dealing with and which of those he's actually nervous about. Then, he quickly addresses the doubt he's sensed about the league's investigation of the Clippers' alleged cap circumvention.
Anthony discusses news from day one of training camp that LeBron James is already being held out. It's apparently part of a larger plan, so that helps. Marcus Smart already being dinged up didn't sound like part of that plan, though, which is a little more concerning. From there, he discusses the concerns around the league about the NBA's investigation into the Clippers and wraps up by diving into the various mailbags.
Well, that's less than ideal. Anthony explains the "long game" plan with LeBron but why the Smart injury does have him a little nervous. Then, he introduces new reporting on the Clippers situation.
Ethan Strauss reported on his Substack that some around the league are concerned Adam Silver has a specific outcome to this investigation of the Clippers in mind as he heads into it. Anthony has heard some of the same and pointed to previous iffy investigations as proof of why the concern is well-founded. From there, he answers questions from every mailbag.
Anthony was incredibly impressed by what he heard and saw from Lakers media day. He discusses the tone LeBron and Luka set and the continuation of that tone from the rest of the guys. Then, he details some new allegations against the Clippers that continue to make them look worse with each new podcast from Pablo Torre.
The Lakers came into media with a couple notable storylines that needed to be addressed and Anthony and Harrison both think they did so with flying colors. LeBron sounds bought in. Luka is ready to lead. Good stuff. Also, the Clippers gave us more reason to laugh at them, which is always fun.
Anthony and Harrison were impressed by the Lakers' two stars throughout media day; especially LeBron, who could've made things awkward and instead looked like a new guy.
As great as most of media day was, there was plenty of stuff to chuckle at, too, especially with the Clippers and Mavericks.
