For our third postgame recap of the 2023-24 season, Josh and Justin are back to recap the Buckeyes 49-14 win over Marshall, marking the conclusion of non-conference play.

Even though Ohio State won by 35 points, fans did not walk away from this one feeling warm and fuzzy. Are the concerns valid? Or are people overreacting to what ended up being an easy win? Or does the answer lie somewhere in between?

We break down the game on both sides of the ball and give our takes, positive and negative.

Before that, we recapped the Big Ten and big wins by Illinois and Michigan.

On today's episode of "Land-Grant Uncut," we are bringing you unedited audio from the postgame press conference following the Saturday, Sept. 21 victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd. The Ohio State Buckeyes weathered a sloppy defensive and special teams performance to win 49-14. Following the game, head coach Ryan Day, running back Quinshon Judkins, and quarterback Will Howard met with the media to discuss the explosive, yet balanced, offensive day.

The head coach gave a slight update on the absence of defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, praised his running backs, and broke down issues on the defensive side of the ball. Judkins and Howard then talked about their big days in OSU's evolving and dynamic offense.

Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s I-80 Football Show. On this show, we travel down I-80 to talk all things Big Ten Football. This is the only Big Ten Podcast that’ll cover all 18 teams. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.

Strap on your seatbelt because this episode covers a lot of ground. After three games and six interceptions, Michigan is benching Davis Warren in favor of Alex Orji. Orji was expected to be the starting quarterback but Warren somehow won the job in fall camp. Head coach Sherrone Moore announced the decision and has a week to prepare an offense for Orji but the problem is he can't throw the ball. With Lincoln Riley and USC coming to the big house this is not a great week to have quarterback turmoil but Michigan is hoping that Orji can help turn their season around. In other quarterback news, Wisconsin's starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is out for the season after tearing his ACL. Wisconsin already did not look impressive but their season may effectively be over without their starting quarterback. 

It’s an unexpected big week in the Big Ten as we have two ranked on-ranked matchups as both Illinois and Nebraska enter the season ranked after a 3-0 start. The best part is this game is a primetime game on Friday night. The Big Ten will have the country's eyes on Friday night as Dylan Raiola faces his first major challenge in a tough Illinois defense with a talented secondary. It may be cliche but this game will be won by the team who makes the least amount of mistakes specifically which quarterback can play the cleanest game against two ball-hawking defenses. 

In the third installment of MapQuest, the Friday night and midday spots were easy with the two ranked matchups of Illinois-Nebraska, and USC-Michigan but there were disagreements on what to recommend for the noon slot. There's not a lot of competition as you can watch Ohio State blowout Marshall or find some reason to watch Maryland and Villanova play. The safe answer is maybe watching Indiana but that should be a blowout as well. In the primetime slot, we give you a rivalry game with Minnesota playing Iowa. It's going to be a fun week of college football. 

In their pitstop, Dante has a good laugh at Florida State being 3-0 and losing to Memphis in a game they never led in. The similarities between 2021 Michigan State and 2024 Florida State continue. After Bryce Young gets benched in Carolina, Jordan is tired of the revisionist history claiming that everyone thought Bryce was a better prospect than CJ Stroud. It’s unfortunate for Bryce but his chances to succeed in the league were slim. NFL evaluators messed up again by valuing the wrong traits.

We are back with another mid-week episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, and it is game week again! After a week three bye, the Ohio State Buckeyes are back with a final non-conference game against Marshall this Saturday.

We preview the Marshall team on offense and defense and where the Thundering Herd could give the Buckeyes some trouble, as well as key players and score predictions.

Before that, we recap week three in college football, including two Big Ten teams that made waves last weekend. And a quick conversation about sports movies and the NFL

With Ohio State having a week off, there was no game for us to recap. So, we dove straight into the rest of the results around the Big Ten. It was a pretty good week for the conference unless you’re a Bruin or a Husky, and let’s face it, those guys are barely B1G. In fact, if UCLA is going to play like it did Saturday against Indiana, Bruins fans may end up wishing they’d stayed in the Pac-10. Oregon finally looked like Oregon, Michigan bounced back in less-than-impressive fashion, and Maryland got a key road win out of conference. Outside the conference, LSU at South Carolina was an entertaining matchup, although the Gamecocks ran into some bad luck with a quarterback injury and didn’t help themselves with play calling late in both halves.

After we checked in on other scores, we turned our attention to Marvin Harrison Jr. and his breakout game Sunday. The former Buckeye and current NFL rookie with the Arizona Cardinals went off for 130 yards and his first two touchdowns as a professional, helping his team win big over the Rams.

Finally, we turned our attention to Ohio State’s opponent on noon Saturday, the Marshall Thundering Herd. Our preview includes which players to watch for, a brief overview of Marshall’s season to date, and our predictions for the final score. We also selected offensive and defensive Buckeyes that we think will have big games in our “picks to click” segment. We’ll be back next week to break down the game and get ready for Big Ten play against Michigan State.

This show is for the die-hard fans and the casual college football fans. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the major matchups of the previous weekend and look ahead at the games, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host DaNaysia Jones. Lock in as we run a power sweep through the college football landscape.

Jordan and DJ recap a pretty quiet Week Three. Quinn Ewers' injury may inadvertently cause competition for QB1 at Texas as Arch Manning had a breakout game. Will there be a need for him to come back sooner rather than later? Florida’s coach may be the next one on the chopping block. There are already rumblings of a buyout as the Gators try to figure out how to become a winning team again.

In this week’s two-minute drill, Week Three had so many pseudo-rivalry games. This prompts Jordan to present his brilliant idea for a midseason rivalry week. The Big Ten has so many rivalries that exist within the conference and with conference realignment many rivalries could be reignited. Instead of doing rivalry week just at the end of the season, how fun would it be to have it between weeks 2 and 3 as well?

The Power rankings spark a lively discussion on certain teams' inclusion or exclusion this early in the season. The logic does not pan out when certain teams are still undefeated and others are not. There are also some teams that do not seem to have earned their spot except in historical contexts. Either way, it's only Week Three so we will see how this turns out.

In this week’s Pregame Power Sweep, we suggested these games: Friday: Illinois - Nebraska. Noon: Kansas - WVU, Mid-Day: USC - Michigan & Utah - OK State, Primetime: Tenn - OU and After Dark: Kansas State - BYU. Honorable mention: SMU VS TCU since it is the last iteration of the Iron Skillet on SMU’s campus. We expect to see some great matchups next week.

Sure, we’re a little late in dropping this week’s episode due to some vacation travel, but we haven’t forgotten to give you a brand new episode of the Silver Bullets Podcast. Ohio State improved to 2-0 on the young 2024 season by virtue of a 56-0 smackdown of the Western Michigan Broncos. Against Western Michigan, the Buckeyes looked like the team we expected to see in the opener against Akron, but they say the biggest improvement during the college football season comes between Games 1 and 2. 

The Buckeyes played with energy from the jump and were relentless throughout the game in putting pressure on the Broncos on both sides of the ball. We broke down the game, discussed what we liked and what we would have liked to have seen more of, checked on the performances of the players we picked to click, and compared our score predictions to see who got closer to calling the final score correctly.

After our Ohio State-Western Michigan rewind, we ran back the scores from all the other games involving Big Ten teams, as well as some surprises around the upper echelons of college football. Illinois picked up a big win, Penn State and Oregon were less than impressive in narrow home victories, and Michigan was humiliated at home. Notre Dame’s playoff chances took a big blow on Saturday as well. It was a crazy weekend.

The Buckeyes have the weekend off, so there’s no preview this week, but we’ll be back in our usual time slot early next week to discuss the happenings around the program, how the rest of the league made out during Ohio State’s bye week, and the upcoming matchup with Marshall.
