As Andy thinks about recent fixations in the playgroup, he takes note of the magnetism of kindred decks and what unique card themes arise with typal decks. Andy brings Kyle into a discussion of how kindred decks can invite a refined eye to tinker and find the ideal and most balanced cards to extract the most out of kindred deck experiences. We hope you've got time this weekend. Kyle and Andy set up their longest analogy ever to help Kyle describe how we can understand legends as more than a binary question of whether or not we should be adopting it for the command zone. Kyle then tries to apply the theory to whether or not The Mindskinner fits on his roster. Look for links to deck lists on our lists-from-the-pod channel on Discord. Sometimes radical change is the way to keep your hobbies fresh. Whispers in the community of people making wholesale changes to their roster of commander decks turned into our church committing to a mass change to our own roster of commanders. Andy and Kyle look to excavate how they learned to love the bomb that blew up where we were in 2024 as a playgroup, with musings of expectations and early observations. The LCP church and lots of listeners have taken to the Danse Macabre concept for decks and found many all kinds of ways to deploy this card repeatedly. Andy reviews the core concept of the deck and sets up a starter deck for anyone looking to take advantage of this game shifting sorcery. Join us as Andy outlines how he's using Vohar, Vodalian Desecrator to get started with a deck that leverages zone changes with Danse Macabre as the star. It's another set. What is there to say other than there are legends to love, legends to hate, and legends to ignore. Listeners have the reviews. Andy and Kyle have the peanut gallery commentary. Some decks have obvious play lines that are potent and to the point, others illicit an obsession, one might even say a cult-like one. Andy takes us into the depths of the Cult of Athreos as he outlines what got him interested in a more nuanced line of play with this Therosian god, which goes well beyond the conventional Shadowborn Apostle + demons lists. In light of the recent developments with the ban list and the subsequent fallout, Andy and Kyle reflect on how their group seems to have been insulated from the big feelings rippling through the broader community. They outline how a deeper playgroup mission that centers on experience and respect almost gives the group an intuition to avoid the most contested parts of the format. Andy outlines with Kyle a variety of tenets that the group tries to respect and they share their stories and success and failure with those tenets, in this classic LCP episode that waxes philosophical along the way.
