I talk a lot about values alignment (aligning your law practice to your values). But what, precisely, does that look like in practice? Here's the thing: Values that cost you nothing probably aren't values — they're just words you aren't really standing behind. Yet the cost is worth it. Because NOT aligning to your values costs something, too.
That's why I was immediately drawn to Ariella Cohen Coleman. She's a lawyer who built a values-aligned law firm and a nonprofit to support the Jewish community. She speaks openly about antisemitism. Even if it makes others uncomfortable. Even though it could cost her something. She is the real thing.
This conversation is about so much:
- What it actually takes to build a values-aligned practice.
- Lawyer wellbeing (and why it's related to peak performance).
- The responsibility lawyers have to speak up about antisemitism (and the role we can play to change course).
This conversation is powerful. It's important. Be sure to listen.
