    pleasantly surprised..
I was surprised by this book. I wasn't sure if I'd like it but I did. I liked the characters and the story flowed nicely.. Until the very end. I was rather disappointed with the last chapter. It seemed like a hurry up end. At least I think it was an end. I'm not completely sure if there is supposed to be a book 2. I hope so.. The story still seems unfinished. Too many loose ends that need tied up.
As for the narrator, I really like her. She does a great job and her voice is pleasant. I would recommend this title to others. I was thoroughly entertained. I also know that if my thoughts keep returning to the story when I'm not listening, then that's a good sign. I was given an audio credit for this title in exchange for an honest review.
    Something's missing there...
Well, first let me tell you it was a very interesting listen right up to the last 3 chapters. The investigation into the disappearance of the main character's mother was intriguing, well thought out, with a lot of twists and threads to follow... Nothing was what it'd seemed to be at first, the characters were complex and very realistically drawn, the truth was uncovered piece by piece, step by step - just as it should be in a good mystery novel. But then there are the last 3 chapters - the solution to the whole investigation - and I simply feel disappointed. Not by the solution itself (I suspected something of the sort) but by the execution of it. And I don't mean the fact that we get it in the form of a conversation, but because we get the conversationa and... that's it; no real reaction from the protagonist nor any other character in the book. There's no follow-up; and there were so many people involved in the case, the disappearnce of Calamity's mother touched so many people in the past that you wait to see their reactions to the whole situation, but you don't get any... That's really disappointing and that is why I've decided to only give the story 4 stars. Other than that, it's a great mystery novel, hard to put down, really.
As for the performance, it's my first book narrated by Ms Jordyn, so I had no particular expectations; I liked the sample so I knew that it should be at least OK. And I wasn't mistaken. The narration is very good. The reading pace is right, and Ms Jordyn modulates her voice enough for the reader to easily follow any conversations.

This book really took me by surprise. Although I was enjoying the book , I just knew I had figured out the twist from the beginning....WRONG! I was originally going to give it 4 stars but by the end it had earned the 5th! Good story, good narration, good book!

    The Memory of Water
    Any additional comments?
Haunted by his past and with writer's block, novellist Slade Harris begins to plan a theoretical murder in order to get himself working again. But when the events of his outline start to play themselves out for real he's pitched into a plot that he can't control and where fiction and reality begin to blur.
Ever thought about writing a book?
Get ready for a psychological thrill ride. Follow this author through an adventure, romance, and emotional healing. Or is it a complete break down? Maybe you get to decide.
    Captivating
If you could sum up The Memory of Water in three words, what would they be?
    Powerful, riveting, surprising
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes. Every chapter leaves you wanting more
Which character as performed by J. Austin Moran II was your favorite?
    Slade
    Any additional comments?
The Memory of Water has to be one of my favourites written by a local author. JT Lawrence has a special gift with words. She makes the reader feel part of the story and every character in the book appeals to you.
    Well done!
I recommend this book to everyone.
    Amazing!
The story is amazing! J.T. Lawrences work is impressive and addictive :) It was so hard for me to stop the audio... all the chase and trying to prove who the killer was exciting. It was really worth my time and attention! I love it!
About the narration, its the first time I try an audiobook and it was great. This narrators voice has emotion and is so easy to understand!

    Four Stars
    good read -up to late
Put this one in your beach bag
This is one of those books that hooks you from the beginning and keeps you reading until the very end, twisting and turning with the characters and plot until you think you have everything figured out and then ... nope. Nothing is as it seems. This is a great summer read by the pool or the beach â just remember to put on the sunscreen before you start because you won't remember to once you are a few chapters in. Without giving away any of the plotting, this is a book along the lines of Behind Closed Doors, Gone Girl and Girl on the Train â starts with a scene and backs you into it through clever use of newspaper headlines, stories and the characters themselves. Set against the run-up to the global financial meltdown of 2008-2009, this is the story of another meltdown, much more personal and, in some ways, far more destructive. This book truly will take you on a roller-coaster ride and all the sounds of the kids at the pool or beachside will fade into oblivion as you come over the last hill and come crashing into the station, breathing hard and ready to be left off the exhilarating ride. This is a very good read that should be on your summer reading list.
    A Fun Beach Read
I rated this book a 3 out of 5 stars.
Three different women with three totally different lives. Ellie is the party girl, hedonistic and extremely wild. Liz is the career girl, who is driven to make her way in the male-dominated workforce. She is the gym rat. The type-A, high strung business woman, and the polar opposite of Ellie. Then, as in all great triads, there is Betsy. Betsy is the comforter, the caretaker, and the one that just wants to make her friends feel better and grounded. These were all totally believable characters. I found myself identifying with a combination of Ellie and Betsy, but know so many Lizâs that I also could identify with her. For me, I enjoyed how in this novel, all of the characters were wonderfully flawed. There was no one âperfect character,â and for me, I enjoy that.
These women all want to âkeep up with the Jonesesâ so to speak, but they find that the pressure of life becomes almost unbearable as Liz loses her job, Betsyâs mother dies and Ellie is assaulted while out one night. There were many unexpected plot twists and turns, and it is hard to review the book without giving away spoilers.

Naive plot with fairy tale narration
Remind me not to listen to any other books narrated by Kate Loch. She talks like a primary school teacher with a class of 5 year olds. Then there's the main character. We are told she's almost 40 but she has the emotions and wisdom of an adolescent, and the rest of the individuals are so stereotyped that you'd need to be a moron to find any suspense in the "paint by numbers plot" routine.

These books are so much fun. I need more but I don't think you can write as fast as I can read. Get to work !
    Loved it
I enjoyed every minute of this series and really hated to see it end.
    From Earth to Eudaiz
This is a riproaring, action-packed adventure in a MEGA multiverse with myriad interlocking stories and series. A complex background of characters and locations includes everything from humans to humanoid species, to zombies and werewolves and sorcerers. These first four books are the "A Shade of Mind" series which is your best introduction: "Random Psychic" starts with a kidnapping and introduction to our main protaganists, Madeline and Ciaran. By "Forever Mortal" we start getting a bit more background on Ciaran, his late wife Juliette and his new love, Madeline. If you are a fan of computer game-playing you will love the imaginative approach to holographic interactive encounters (think holodeck on steroids?) as the action races along. We pretty much remain on earth for "Elusive Beings" and "Imperfect Divine" transits between 'verses; as we begin to have a concept of how this "multiverse" operates.
Good series, will be reading on into the next one
I received these books for free in exchange for my review. I liked this series. It started off a little slow while the characters were being introduced, but it has plenty of action. Sometimes, however, the action seems a little forced. There could be a few more periods of character development/history in place of some of the action; this would allow us to see the players and not so much of the play.
The series recounts the adventures of Ciaran, Madeline, Tadgh, Jo, and in the last book Zach as they find about their true selves and where they belong. They will eventually leave our dimension and travel to another, and that sets us up for the next series
The writing improves through each book , and I am sure it will continue to do so in the next series. The players will be allowed to pass between this dimension and our dimension as they need to, so I am sure there will be plenty more adventures in both.

Napoleon Villa has very little: no real family, no real home. A veteran detective for the LAPD, he is a gray wolf in an ever-darkening world. When the call comes in that a young woman has plummeted to her death at the Los Angeles Hilton, it seems like just another case.

Thrills, Chills, and Supernatural Forces at Work
4.5 stars. This thriller is an equal opportunity offender. If you are Christian, and vulgar language and occasional sexual situations get your panties in a twist, this is not the right book for you. If you are a secular person who can't stand themes of love, spirituality, and redemption mixed in with gritty, fast-paced action, this is not the right book for you.
But if you are open to an exciting story, told well, with considerable Proustian reflection, you'll enjoy this book. Disclaimer: I'm personally acquainted with the author and saw early drafts of the work. I still think it's an excellent read, and I don't say that about every book written by my friends. Note: this book ends in a cliffhanger, so if you are dying to know how it ends, you'll have to read the other two.
    The Monsters Within.
"A Strange Brew," Kirkus Reviews call this, and it is, but a very entertaining one. The first chapter set the stage, and the book just kept charging along to its somehow inevitable but completely unexpected ending. A real fast read with finely-drawn characters and an intriguing story-line. This is the first in a series. It'll be interesting to see what happens next.

Different, but in a good way
I could not put this down. I cannot give too much because it will either mimic the description or give a spoiler. It is an edge of your seat ride that will keep you up at night and leave you unsettled until the last page of the last book.

    Publisher's Summary:
After the publication of his most recent book, Alex Smyth receives a trout fly in the mail at his home address in rural Canada - with no message and no return address. It stirs a fear in him that he is being stalked, and it awakens deeply buried, inchoate memories from his childhood in Ireland, a time before he was old enough to understand the adult world around him. It also evokes the guilt that he may have murdered a man, a feeling so strong it changes him and threatens his marriage. Soon, in hopes of solving the mysteries that surround him, Alex feels that he has no choice but to return home to Ireland and to his estranged father.
A novel of great literary beauty that is structured as a tense psychological thriller, The Trout is a tale of predators and prey, deception, and the hidden crimes that can shape a life.
    Members Reviews:
    Well done
This is a well-crafted crisply written, gripping story of one man search for the crucial secret locked in his memory since childhood and the ability of whole societies to deny the evidence of their eyes.
When writer Alex Smyth receives a letter at his home in rural Bayport Ontario containing only a fishing lure, unsettling childhood memories are triggered. Alex thinks he may have killed another boy when he was seven, he then decides to return to Ireland to seek answers from his father.
Alex is the narrator and recounts events from both a childâs and an adultâs perspective. His voice is gentle almost mesmerizing it is easy to adapt to his tone. As the tale unfolds, the author artfully spins several stories at once: Ex: when Kay, Alexâs wife, alone has doubts about their marriage and has fears of a stalker we are into some interesting interludes.
It takes time to connect with the characters but when several layers of tension are introduced and memories crisscrossed with the present they immediately become accessible. The short chapters and a credible narrative keep the pages turning and the pacing holds up to the tension beautifully when it picks up. Serving simply as a metaphor and to provide a connecting thread in this delicate and powerful tale, the author has intercepted his narrative with brief and cogent paragraphs with the art of fly-fishing and its pursuit of the trout. (Interesting).
I had a hard time getting into this psychological thriller and staying focused during the initial section, it drags too much as it recounts the couple peaceful existence in Canada till mid-way threatened by Alexâs visions everything meshed and I understood where the author was leading.
