Well, it's good to be the best. Texas A&M now knows that feeling as they sit at top of the 2022 recruiting rankings. With names like Walter Nolen, Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, Abraham Lucas, Jake Johnson and Conner Weigman on board, the future is bright in Aggieland.

The Aggies, who finished 8-4 this season, only improved their status among SEC programs heading into the 2022 season. Although last year was a bit of a fluke, can next season be one filled with so much more potential and growth on pace for a national championship? Join Locked on Aggies host Cole Thompson to find out more on A&M's success Wednesday and Early Signing Period.

Texas A&M's Zach Calzada likely was always going to have to fight for the role of QB1 next season. That is, if he ever wanted to stay. Calzada elected to enter the transfer portal on Monday, granting him two more years of eligibility after an 8-4 record in 2021 with the Aggies.

Calzada became the Aggies’ starter in Week 3 after Haynes King, who won the starting job in August, broke his tibia in Week 2 against Colorado. Calzada turned in an up-and-down performance the rest of the overall disappointing season for the Aggies, who were a popular preseason pick to compete with Alabama for an SEC West title. At least he did beat the Crimson Tide at home, right?

Join Locked on Aggies host Cole Thompson as he breaks down what A&M does against No. 17 Wake Forest and what programs should be interested in Calzada on the open market.

Texas A&M's Mike Elko has been regarded as a coach in waiting for quite some time. That time came to an end on Friday evening.

Elko was named head coach at Duke following a four-year run as the Aggies' defensive coordinator. After building a staple system in College Station, Elko looks to do the same for the Blue Devils in due time. Where does Texas A&M turn now? Do they go for an internal hire or should they look to the outside for its next defensive coordinator. More importantly, who are the top names on the market?

Join Locked on Aggies host Cole Thompson as he breaks down the biggest options for Texas A&M and Jimbo Fisher to look at in the coming days.

The Early Signing Day Period argument has become one of major backlash. Some believe its best to get players in the system as soon as possible. Others believe it should be pushed back.

Texas A&M has prospered from the ESD news this season in large part due to the wacky coaching carousel work. The Aggies are improving to the No. 2 class in the country, and very well could be No. 1 by the end of next week. A&M, however, could end up losing in the long run should coaches leave early in similar fashion to that of Oregon and Oklahoma.

Should the ruling change? Join Locked on Aggies host Cole Thompson as he explains why both arguments are valid on Early Signing Day.

Texas A&M was always set to be in for a breakout season with the newest recruiting class. After landing defensive linemen Walter Nolen and wide receiver Evan Stewart, A&M moved into the No. 3 ranking on most websites.

They grew to No. 2 with two new additions. After adding a commitment from Seattle-based offensive lineman Mark Nabou on Monday, the Aggies flipped five-star prospect Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy from Oklahoma only hours later.

A&M still have a chance to win the likings of top offensive tackle recruit Kelvin Banks, along with linebacker Harold Perkins and safety Jacoby Matthews. Join Locked on Aggies host Cole Thompson has breaks down exactly why A&M has hit its stride and should be thanking Oregon and Oklahoma.

No, it wasn't the season that Texas A&M wanted, but they'll take the Dec.31 slot. The Aggies are headed back to Duvall County for a shot against Wake Forest in the Taxslayer Gator Bowl. A&M, who finished 8-4, might be the favorite over the 10-3 Demon Deacons.

This will mark the second time that the Aggies have face Wake Forest. Last time in 2017, Wake Forest's John Wolford won the day. The four-year starter who battled through two difficult sack-filled 3-9 seasons in 2015 and 2016, threw for 400 yards and four touchdowns to help Wake Forest beat Texas A&M 55-52 in the Belk Bowl.

The Aggies last played in the Gator Bowl back in 2018 against NC State. That season, Kellen Mond threw for 140 yards and a touchdown, while running back Trayveon Williams rushed for 236 yards and three TDs on the way to a 52-13 win.

Join Locked on Aggies' host Cole Thompson as he breaks down why the Gator Bowl was always the best option for A&M after losing to LSU.

Texas A&M defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal, who projects to be a first-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, has played his last down in Aggieland Leal posted to social media Wednesday night that he will bypass his senior season at A&M and declare for the draft, and few can blame him. After his season in College Station, what else is there for him to prove?

Leal lined up across the middle of the defensive line, rotating from defensive end to defensive tackle. The results were the same everywhere. He was successful from the get-go, and few had issues with his overall. Where does he land next? Join Locked on Aggies host Cole Thompson to find out more about his status among other NFL prospects and where he could land next.

Texas A&M's 8-4 season now has them looking towards a late December or early January bowl bid. The Aggies have shown they can contend among the best teams in the SEC, but at times, offensive inefficiencies have been a concern. Games like the Sugar Bowl, Citrus Bowl and likely Peach Bowl are all out of the conversation. So is the Gasparilla Bowl or something such as the Armed Forces Bowl. Making a bowl is an accomplishment in itself, but A&M's quest to make a great bowl game likely relies on one of three spots. The question is, which spot would it be?

Join Locked on Aggies host Cole Thompson as he breaks down which bowl game is the top option for A&M this upcoming month.

Well, that escalated quickly. Brian Kelly is head to LSU after a dozen years at Notre Dame. Despite the 12-year run for the Fighting Irish, Kelly understands the SEC offers a better chance for a national title at age 60.

Lincoln Riley, the now head coach at USC, understands Oklahoma is going to need to rebuild. With a move to the SEC from the Big 12, those things can take time. At USC, all Riley must do is beat the likes of Oregon to move on to the College Football Playoff.

But how does all of this effect Texas A&M? How does this help or hurt the Aggies? Join Locked on Aggies host Cole Thompson as he breaks down what the two major shakeups of college football do the future of the 12th Man and the state of the SEC
