Have Cale Makar’s contract talks with the Colorado Avalanche hit a snag? Are term limits the real barrier to a new extension? With the NHL salary cap rising and stars like Connor Bedard and Leo Carlsson opting for shorter deals, Chris Micieli and Zach Pearson debate whether Makar should maximize his earnings or lock in security for the long haul. Will Joe Sakic and Avalanche management bend, or will Makar settle for fewer years to chase a bigger payday down the line?

The conversation heats up with a look at the most significant goals in Avalanche history—does Darren Helm’s game-winner against St. Louis rival Uwe Krupp’s Cup-winning overtime goal? Fans chime in with their picks, while franchise-altering moments like Patrick Roy’s fateful night in Montreal spark debate. Plus, the hosts break down The Athletic’s fan poll results on team improvements, expansion candidates, and the Avalanche’s chances for another Stanley Cup run.

Colorado Avalanche fans face a tough question: is any player truly untouchable? Chris Micieli and Zach Pearson break down the Avalanche roster, spotlighting whether stars like Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Gabriel Landeskog are 100% safe from trades—or if team circumstances could shift even their futures. The hosts scrutinize contract situations, no-trade clauses, and playoff expectations while comparing organizational loyalty to the harsh realities of the NHL.

The conversation heats up as they assess whether Martin Necas, Devon Toews, and surprise names like Brock Nelson could be on the move if postseason success doesn’t materialize. Who might retire in burgundy and blue, and who could seek a fresh start elsewhere? The episode also explores the fate of superstars across the league, from Sidney Crosby to Connor McDavid, and what history says about “lifers” in modern hockey.

Colorado Avalanche stars face a defining season as questions loom over Mackenzie Blackwood’s ability to reclaim the starter’s net and silence doubts about his durability. Can Devon Toews prove last season’s dip was a blip, not a sign of age, and will Martin Necas finally shed his “playoff ghost” label? Uniform controversies, playoff disappointments, and a burning desire to reclaim Stanley Cup glory drive the debate: who on the Avalanche has the most to prove this year?

Chris Micieli and Zach Pearson break down the top Avs with pressure on their shoulders—spotlighting Logan O’Connor’s comeback from hip surgery, Scott Wedgewood’s need to replicate his breakout campaign, and Brock Nelson’s quest for redemption after a rough postseason. The conversation digs into the Avalanche’s special teams, fan expectations, and whether veteran moves like bringing Patrick Kane back to Chicago will shake up the Central Division. Which Avalanche player will answer the call when it matters most?
