Baylor and Texas Tech were indeed significant players in the 2025 winter transfer portal window, making impactful additions to their rosters.

Texas Tech:

• Offensive Line Reinforcements: The Red Raiders prioritized bolstering their offensive line, landing key additions like Howard Sampson (North Carolina), Will Jados (Miami (OH)), and Hunter Zambrano (Illinois State). These experienced linemen should provide a significant upgrade to their protection and open up running lanes.
• Defensive Bolstering: Texas Tech also addressed defensive needs, adding Romello Height (Georgia Tech) to bolster their pass rush.

Baylor:

• Offensive Playmakers: Baylor focused on adding playmakers on offense, landing key transfers like Kobe Prentice (Alabama) at wide receiver. This addition should provide a significant boost to their passing game.

Key Takeaways:

• Strategic Acquisitions: Both programs strategically targeted areas of need through the transfer portal, addressing specific weaknesses and adding experienced talent to key positions.
• Impact on the Big 12: These acquisitions have the potential to significantly impact the competitive landscape of the Big 12, making both Baylor and Texas Tech stronger contenders in the upcoming season.

• Conference-Wide Innovation: Texas Tech's experiences can serve as a valuable model for other Big 12 schools, encouraging them to explore innovative NIL strategies and better support their student-athletes.

The Big 12 Conference distributed $470 million to its 14 member schools for the 2023-24 athletic year.

• Distribution: This figure represents a significant increase from the previous year and includes a distribution of $18 million to each of the four new member schools (BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston).
• Increased Revenue: The increase in revenue is attributed to new media rights deals and other revenue-generating initiatives.
• Future Projections: The Big 12 is projected to distribute even more revenue in the coming years, further strengthening the conference financially.

This significant revenue distribution will allow Big 12 schools to invest in their athletic programs, enhance facilities, and provide greater support to student-athletes.

In their first year in the SEC, Oklahoma and Texas each made about $10 million less.

Indiana might explore replacing Mike Woodson with Scott Drew if they believe Drew could bring a higher level of sustained success to the program. Here's why:

• Proven Success: Drew has built Baylor into a perennial contender, culminating in a national championship in 2021. He's demonstrated an ability to recruit top talent, develop players, and consistently compete for championships.
• Offensive Acumen: Drew is known for his offensive-minded approach, which could be a refreshing change of pace for Indiana.
• State Ties: While Drew's primary ties are to Baylor, he played college basketball at Butler in Indiana, which could provide a connection to the state.

However, there are significant hurdles:

• Drew's Commitment to Baylor: Drew has consistently shown loyalty to Baylor, turning down other high-profile job offers in the past.
• Baylor's Success: Baylor remains a strong program under Drew's leadership, making it unlikely he would leave for a lateral move.

Ultimately, pursuing Scott Drew would be a long shot for Indiana. However, given his proven success and potential fit with the program, it's understandable why they might consider exploring the possibility.

While Deion Sanders has generated a lot of excitement and brought increased attention to Colorado football, it's arguable that Dave Aranda is a better coach based on several factors:

• Proven Track Record: Aranda led Baylor to a national championship in 2021, demonstrating his ability to build a championship-caliber program. Sanders, while successful at Jackson State, has yet to achieve similar success at the Power Five level.
• Defensive Genius: Aranda is renowned for his innovative and aggressive defensive schemes. His defensive prowess has consistently been a hallmark of his teams, even during periods of offensive struggles.
• Program Building: Aranda has shown the ability to build a sustainable program, developing talent and creating a winning culture within the program.
