Locked On Bears - Daily Podcast On The Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears kick and punt return jobs are wide open. The best case scenario is that Velus Jones takes the next step and locks down both roles at training camp.

The Bears also have open competitions for other key special teams spots, and their undrafted rookie free agent kicker Andre Szymt is more than just a camp leg.

The Chicago Bears have moved on from some of their most prominent team leaders since Ryan Poles took over as general manager.

It's time for the next set of leaders to step up on the roster along side Justin Fields and Eddie Jackson. Some of it will fall on free agent signings, and some of it will be up to younger players growing into bigger roles.

The Chicago Bears need a few things to go their way in 2023 in order for this team to reach its full potential this season, beyond just Justin Fields taking the next step forward.

This young defensive line needs to far exceed expectations, this offensive line needs to make a smooth transition and the free agent additions need to gel quickly with the rookies and the returning veterans to minimize mistakes and the learning curve.

The Chicago Bears offense will take a step forward in 2023. The only question is how much better Justin Fields and company will be.

ESPN's Mike Clay released his updated player projections for this upcoming season, and we go through the stats for Fields in Year 3, plus a crowded Bears backfield and trying to find away to spread the passing yards around to all the weapons.

The Chicago Bears are one of four teams that the NFL could force to appear on the HBO documentary show "Hard Knocks"

Some fear that having the cameras around Halas Hall could be a distraction for Matt Eberflus' team, but it could also give fans fun access into Justin Fields' development and the biggest personalities on the roster.

Questions reemerged about Chase Claypool's motivation in a pivotal offseason with the Chicago Bears, a similar issue that followed him with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It's important not to get too caught up in the highs and lows of offseason practice reports, but we can still check in on Fields' progress when it comes to his footwork, mechanics and leadership.
