Are the Big Ten's Big Noon Kickoffs a Blessing or a Curse?

FOX announced it will broadcast the highly anticipated Texas vs Ohio State season opening college football game.  That means it will likely be part of their successful Big Noon Kickoff.  But some fans are upset this game won't air under the lights in prime time!

With the Big Ten's lucrative TV deals with FOX, NBC, CBS, Peacock and Big Ten Network, some of the Big Ten's biggest games end up kicking off at noon on the east coast and 9 am on the west coast.

The Big Noon Kickoff on FOX brings in great TV ratings but one has to wonder how much higher they could be if those games were played in prime time.  And we wonder if this ultimately hurts Big Ten exposure nationally.

Discussion about college football playoff expansion is stirring up controversy, and we're diving into the heart of it. Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and the rest of the Power 4 commissioners met last week in New York to discuss the future format of the college football playoff.  

It is currently set at 12 teams.  Then there was talk of the college football playoffs expansion to 14 teams.  But now it seems a 16 team college football playoff format is preferred.  And some conferences want a couple of play-in games which would push the college football playoffs to a 20-team format.

On the heels of the Michigan football program self-imposing a two game ban on coach Sherrone Moore for alleged ties to the infamous Connor Stalions Spygate sign stealing scandal, we have some questions!  Will the two game suspension be enough to satisfy the blood thirsty NCAA which has been gunning for the Michigan football program since the days of Jim Harbaugh?  The biggest potential problem for Moore and the Wolverines was the fact that Moore deleted 52 text messages with Connor Stalions the day the Spygate sign stealing scandal broke.  What was in those messages?

We believe the NCAA will be looking for a much longer punishment for Sherrone Moore.  Jim Harbaugh got a 4-year show cause penalty for recruiting violations in Burgergate.  Moore, who was Harbaugh's offensive coordinator at the time, was suspended one game for those same group of violations.  New violations would make him a multi-time offender in the eyes of the NCAA.

Plus two other assistants form that staff, Jesse Minter and Steve Clinkscale received one and two year show cause penalties respectively.  What makes anybody think Sherrone Moore will get less than a one year penalty from the NCAA?  We don't think they will feel the self-imposed two game ban will be enough.  We think Michigan football should brace for the worst ahead of the 2025 college football season.

In other news out of Ann Arbor, Michigan school president Santa J. Ono is leaving the school.  There was no bigger Jim Harbaugh supporter than Ono.  There have been a lot of issues at Michigan that would cause him to leave, but does he have insider information from the NCAA about their intentions for Michigan football?  And is that one of the reasons he is leaving?

Michigan Football's Bold Move:  Wolverines Self-Impose Suspension of Coach Sherrone Moore for SpyGate!  Is it Enough?

Michigan Wolverines football is self-imposing a two-game suspension on head coach Sherrone Moore amid the Connor Stallions "Spygate" scandal. This bold decision seems to be an attempt to get ahead of an NCAA suspension in the near future.  Because Michigan's penalty is self-imposed, the NCAA could ban Sherrone Moore for additional games and perhaps the entire 2025 college football season!

There are quirks and implications to the self imposed ban Michigan placed on Moore.  First of all, he will not be able to participate in any football activities during his ban.  This is different from the previous suspensions that former coach Jim Harbaugh served as he was allowed to run practice during the week.  He just could not be on the sideline on game day.

Also, Moore's ban will take place in weeks three and four of the Wolverine's schedule, not weeks one and two.  It is odd they are cherry picking these dates but if they follow through, this suspension schedule will allow Sherrone Moore to coach a big non-conference game against Oklahoma, his alma mater.
