Locked On Blue Jays - Daily Podcast On The Toronto Blue Jays

It seems this isn't a good week for the MLB.

A.J. Andrews discusses the AP report that MLB is looking to outright cancel the MLB Draft. She outlines why they want to do it ($$$) and how that is cheating the players out of their hard-earned payday, although there may be a slight advantage for the Blue Jays.

She also provides an update on how the Out of the Park sim is looking for the Toronto team. There are some positional issues, as well as some promotions that need to be made to the opening day roster, but one Blue Jay in particular should be steaming with his rating. A.J. tells you who.

We are working on some things folks. Until then, let's talk about MLB screwing things up some more!

A.J. Andrews doesn't have much to talk about with the Blue Jays, so she turns to Tommy Pham's interview with USA Today's Bob Nightengale and lets the Padres outfielder do much of the talking. Pham didn't hold back on baseball's response to the virus, it's inability to pay players and the need for a new CBA, and the host agrees with a lot of it. Plus, an update on the sims to come to the network courtesy Out of the Park Baseball 21!

Couldn't throw the Happy in there. I wish these were happier times.

A.J. Andrews wishes Blue Jays potential superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. a happy birthday today! She then proceeds to analyze the heck of him! What he's done, where he's going and what his future holds with the team. Plus Joe Panik is on the 40-man now! What does this mean for him, and for Yennsy Diaz? Not much at this time, but still! It means a lot for her upcoming simulation.

The Blue Jays may be on hiatus at the moment, but we can't forget about the fans!

A.J. Andrews takes fan suggestions on what the heck everyone can do with the baseball season on hiatus. There are some very good ones, and very classy ones. Ben's is very correct.

She then details the plans for the podcast. Yes, it will still be delivered to your devices five days a week. As such, she outlines a couple of plans she is considering to help people get through the winter. You should probably follow her for the best results.

This is a sad day. Not even kitteh co-host can help ease this one.

She tried though. But then she left, and A.J. Andrews is left to discuss the reality of baseball postponing its regular season due to COVID-19. She talks about how this was the right call, and that despite the differences between MLB's reality and other sports, the threats are still there.

There was baseball played today, and A.J. does analyze the performances of the Blue Jays in a 7-5 win over the Pirates. No one was perfect, not even Nate Pearson, but one player stood out and the host thinks that he might be able to offer a bit of relief in a position the Jays have had problems with should the need arise.

We are going to be serious for the first little bit folks, so bare with us.

A.J. Andrews has to hold off talking about actual sports to discuss whether or not sports will be played in the midst of the growing coronavirus pandemic. She reasons that games will likely go on, but they should be held behind closed doors and that athletes and fans alike should take things seriously unlike that idiot Rudy Gobert.

Following that, she turns her attention the Blue Jays' 14-2 desecration of the Orioles in Florida. The host remarks how important it is that guys like Danny Jansen and Randal Grichuk are finding their swings early and that even in a meaningless game, its important to go out and play like the Jays did today with no mercy for their opponents.

Say it ain't so! Well it ain't, so there you go. That was easy.

A.J. Andrews is by herself again, and so it falls to her to bid farewell to the 10 souls cut from the Blue Jays major league training camp, including fan and pundit favorite Alejandro Kirk. Andrews reasons why most of them were cut, and takes the opportunity to get some more shots in at Logan Warmoth.

She then goes over the last three games the Blue Jays have played in, including Hyun-Jin Ryu looking dazzling, Danny Jansen and Riley Adams breaking plates on the Rays, and back-to-back great outfield plays from Chavez Young and Reggie Pruitt.

Going into the wee hours to tamp the sheer Nova Scotian levels of this podcast down!

A.J. Andrews and MLB.com writer Keegan Matheson conclude their conversation while Matheson is on the beat in Florida. They discuss Trent Thornton's strong spring, the Blue Jays' bullpen woes with Rafael Dolis hitting the surgery table, and more Blue Jays catching eyes that are not named Alejandro Kirk, by decree of the host!
