Locked On Browns - Daily Podcast On The Cleveland Browns

The Browns had their first practice of training camp back in Berea.

Jim Schwartz talked about the defense not being there yet which is certainly understandable, then the defense went out and stacked together another strong day.

Myles Garrett was relentless all day and rookie cornerback Cameron Mitchell had a pick six return.

The practice featured more game like conditions, two minute drill and no huddle offense.

Cedric Tillman and Donovan Peoples-Jones had highlight reel catches, while second year kicker Cade York had a flawless day.

National media seems to be turning towards being in on the Browns, the reason is simple. The roster is loaded and Jim Schwartz is a top notch boss on defense.

With the Browns back in the building in Berea, they hosted veteran defensive tackle Shelby Harris.

Harris fits the defense very well as he can provide interior pass rush. He visited Denver, and Seattle is still interested so if the Andrew Berry and company want him the are going to have to be aggressive.

The move would make sense as the team has plugged their other weakness' on defense with veterans already.

Some thoughts on Joe Thomas as he heads toward Canton to enshrined.

New midfield logo coming, as long as it's not elf . Jeff is fine with it.

The Cleveland Browns concluded their training camp getaway at the Greenbrier in West Virginia. In what had been a week of the offense showing out today the defense got their revenge in. Even though in shells the defense had plenty of would be sacks and even the plays the coaches let go on the secondary had stout coverage all day.

Myles Garrett and Obo Okoronkwo were menacesall day.

There were some fights at today's practice which Coach Stefanski dealt with by forcing the guys to run sprints.

The secondary has been getting very tough reps with the wide receivers and tight ends which should help with the Bengals waiting week one.

Rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson was one who stood out on offense and let's see if he can keep that going as we figure he sees a lot of playing time in the Hall of Fame game on Thursday.

As the training camp road trip in West Virginia winds down it's been apparent to this point the offense is looking vastly improved.

Deshaun Watson has been throwing with great velocity and great accuracy all week at camp, it really looks like he's getting back into his comfort zone.

Rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson is starting find some footing and should challenge for the Browns back-up job sooner than later.

Elijah Moore, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and even Daylen Baldwin have showed to reliable targets through seven practices.

David Njoku is just a mismatch nightmare, too athletic for linebackers and too big for defensive backs to cover.

Sports Illustrated's Pete Smith joins the show to talk Browns training camp through five practices.

Deshaun Watson continues at a toward pace and his relationship with Elijah Moore gets better each dau.

The practices have shown great battles between receivers and defensive backs which should help both groups once the regular season starts.

The pads go on tomorrow which should allow to see where the offensive and defensive lines are at.

The Cleveland Browns finished their fourth day of training camp, the practices picked up in pace ahead of Thursday's off day.

They went full on 11 v 11 albeit with no pads. The first play was a sack for the defense, but the offense had their wins as well.

The 7 v 7 red zone work was pretty much dominated by the defense. Thomas Graham and Jacob Phillips both had big pass break ups.

Martin Emerson and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah have both looks very good thus far.

Daylen Baldwin getting reps with three wide receivers out has shown well.

The returner jobs still sime wide open and could vital to a roster fringe wide out making the team.

Day three of Cleveland Browns training camp is in the books.

From the Greenbrier in West Virginia the team continues to get work in but we haven't seen full speed just yet.

Elijah Moore continues to be the offensive star thus far, catching everything near him and showing off in other roles than just receiver.

Cooper, Goodwin, and Schwartz are still out which is allowing for solid reps for David Bell and Cedric Tillman.

Jordan Elliott took what would be considered first team reps in a 11 on 11 drill at half speed.

Small sample size but Greg Newsome is taking slot reps.

Thoughts on Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah's media availability.

Special teams had a nice day and we're seeing some interesting names involved in the return game.

The Haslem's spoke "We're not leaving Northeast Ohio."

The Cleveland Browns first two practices of their 2023 season are in the books.

At the Greenbrier in West Virginia the teams starts their '23 journey.

The good news is the Browns have both Anthony Walker and Sione Takitaki on the field. Albeit limited it's still better than expected news for two players who finished the year on injured reserve.

The bad news, the wide receiver room is dealing with some early issues. Marquise Goodwin's blood clot issue is a scary concern.

The number six jersey is back in action.

Thoughts on Deshaun Watson and Nick Chubb media availability.

We close out the training camp series putting the focus on the secondary players as the Browns head down to West Virginia.

Denzel Ward is the leader of the cornerback's and he along with Greg Newsome and Martin Emerson should flourish as Jim Schwartz looks to simplify things on defense. AJ Green has been a roster stalwart the last two seasons but faces competition this summer.

The safety room got a redo as Juan Thornhill was brought in to be the true over the top guy that this team has lacked for years. Rodney McLeod coming in allows Grant Delpit to play closer to the line of scrimmage. Undrafted rookie Ronnie Hickman is one to watch this summer and should make this team.

Jim Schwartz is tasked with getting this defense right and his track record says he's the man for the job.

The Cleveland Browns have their first roster cut of training camp. Perrion Winfrey has been released after yet another off-field incident. Winfrey was given plenty of rope by the Browns brass but obviously was on a final warning and this lead to a move the Browns had to make. Cleveland really needed to add a veteran defensive tackle and we'll see how quickly they pursue this now, even bigger need.

We continue with training camp previews and focus on the linebackers. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is figured to take most of the reps but rehabbing Anthony Walker and Sione Takitaki could jump in if he can not.

The rest of the room is hard to figure as Andrew Berry brought in linebackers with the sole purpose of playing special teams. So it will be an interesting unit to watch this summer.
