Locked On Browns - Daily Podcast On The Cleveland Browns

Charles McDonald joins to talk Browns ahead of training camp.

Deshaun Watson is the key to this and to assume his abilities are gone seems very immature. His game should return to form.

Jim Schwartz was a major addition to a defense that needed a redo. Andrew Berry has given him multiple additions to help his defensive line heavy scheme work.

Charles feels the Browns should make the playoffs but the AFC North and the AFC in general are just loaded.

The Cleveland Browns training camp positional preview series continues as we focus on the defensive tackle room.

Dalvin Tomlinson was an excellent signing and should flourish under new defensive boss Jim Schwartz.

After Tomlinson this group has players with potential but no NFL success. Can Jim Schwartz coach some of them up? Can some of these players get a season of health they've never had? Unless this room has a great start to training camp it's crazy to think that Andrew Berry isn't looking to add a veteran.

We continue the training camp series by putting the defensive end room under the lens.

The questions of leadership in regards to Myles Garrett just need to be put to rest. Would you rather he be a great leader or the best defensive end in the NFL?

This could be his best year ever with the major upgrades in talent he is now paired with.

ZaDarius Smith and Ogbo Okoronkwo bring major upgrades to the two and three spot's and both have on playoff teams.

Isiah McGuire figures to be a roster lock as he was just drafted.

Alex Wright is a better athlete and two years younger than Isiah Thomas.

Thomas could be a trade option.

Lonnie Phelps doesn't fit the Browns preferred size at defensive end but his motor could find him on a practice squad.

As the Cleveland Browns get ready to travel to West Virginia to begin training camp there are still some final questions about the roster. We discuss this and Pete gives us his Browns Mount Rushmore and see if Myles Garrett is on a path towards that accolade.

The running backs behind Nick Chubb is still a talking point, will the young kids get a chance? Is there a veteran coming through free agency or trade?

The offensive line is shifting most likely to more pass protection, but it's hard to believe this group of veterans aren't up for the challenge.

We all know about the newness of the Defense, which should take some time to marinate.

Cornerback two and edge rusher four and five should lead to some to some tough decisions over the next six weeks.

The Training Camp Preview series continues as today's focus is on the Quarterback position.

Deshaun Watson had the Browns make a major investment in him at a time when he was in a low place. The same folks who aided him now need him to back up their play by being the elite player he has shown to be in the past. Deshaun needs to play at top level and allow head coach Kevin Stefandki and general manager Andrew Berry to secure their futures in Cleveland.

The back-up quarterback race (which hopefully never matters( is more interesting then most think. If it is a legit battle Dorian Thompson-Robinson should be able to beat out veteran Josh Dobbs.

Deshaun Watson will break a bunch of Browns passing records this year.

We continue the Cleveland Browns training camp preview series with this episodes focus on the Offensive line.

The Browns starting offensive line returns in tact for the 2023 season. Bitonio, Teller, and Pocic on the interior were a terrific group last season and the thought is that will continue as this team transitions on offense.

Jack Conklin is back and healthy with a new contract the Browns could use a full year of him as the passing game becomes the focal point.

Jedrick Wills hopes to finally put it all together in year four otherwise it makes for an awkward off-season between he and the franchise.

The Browns have nice youth in the room for a change in Hudson, Jones, and Wypler but can these kids develop with-out much playing time?

The whole offensive line will be in a new to them position as this team may attempt 500 passes this season.

The Training Camp Preview series continues as we focus on the wide receivers. This room is deep and ready to produce.

Amari Cooper was very impressive in '22 with a difficult quarterback situation and although he will likely see less targets this season the production should stay around the same as Cleveland will be throwing the more frequently.

Donovan Peoples-Jones enters his contract year, he's been a fascinating player to watch develop from former sixth round pick to starter.

Elijah Moore was a huge get for General Manager Andrew Berry. He differs from other Browns wide receivers and the slate should be set for career numbers.

Marquisse Goodwin brings a skill set and has looked good thus far but there's plenty of young competition.

David Bell and Cedric Tillman will find playing time if they contribute those reps could grow.

We continue the training camp preview series as we focus on the running back room. The Browns have the NFL's best running back but after that there's legit questions.

Nick Chubb has become a franchise staple but this year we should see a different version of him. With the team shifting to more shotgun sets that will change the run game but Nick will adjust. We should see Chubb contribute more as a receiver which should save him some hits as the Browns will need him in January.

Jerome Ford seems to have all the potential but there's no proof he can handle running back two touches. It's one of the biggest questions of training camp, and why veteran running backs keep getting linked to Cleveland.

The rest of the room has holdovers who haven't gotten much run but undrafted free agent Hassan Hall should get plenty of chances to earn a roster spot with his return ability that could be seen as valuable if Jerome Ford settles in as Nick Chubb's understudy.

The Cleveland Browns will be off to begin training camp on July 22nd so we start our preview series of each positional group. We focus today on the tight end position on this episode,

David Njoku is under valued in league circles but his growth as a player can't be ignored. His blocking has become plus and his production based over a full season basis show he may be top five.

Jordan Akins and Harrison Bryant both can bring value as receivers but need to show enough blocking ability to get those reps. More importantly so for Bryant who enters his first free agency cycle. If the Browns need they can use James Hudson again as a short yardage tight end and even perhaps rookie Dawand Jones.

The future of the room is cloudy and Andrew Berry will have his eyes on possible tight end practice squad players, who could stick long term.

David Njoku will have his best season in 2023 as the Browns will open their passing game.

We are joined by Dawgs By Nature producer Jared Mueller to discuss the overall improvement to the roster. Za"Darius Smith and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo tripled the production of Jadeveon Clowney and Chase Winovich. Alex Wright can go back on the learning path he should've been on. Juan Thornhill coming in as a true free safety? Younger players will have to earn playing time not be forced into action if not ready.

If Deshaun Watson is great the Browns are super bowl contenders, he does not have to be elite. Defending the Browns in certain personnel packages is going to be incredibly difficult.

Jim Schwartz and the defensive line should ease any thought of a slow start to the year. They have players who win one on one's. They don't have to be cute, simple can work early.
