Locked On Coogs - Daily Podcast on Houston Cougars Football and Basketball

Congress targets college sports’ chaos with a sweeping 111-page bipartisan bill that could forever change NCAA athlete transfers, NIL deals, and conference realignment. Will new limits on free transfers, stricter enforcement of NIL compensation, and the so-called Lane Kiffin rule bring stability—or spark backlash from powerhouse conferences like the SEC?

Speaker A breaks down how proposed legislation, led by Senators Ted Cruz and Maria Cantwell, would impact the Houston Cougars, from a cap on player movement to a potential salary cap bringing college basketball and football spending back down to earth. Hear how coaches like Kelvin Sampson are responding, the possible Big 12 power shift if ACC schools jump ship, and why some see the reforms as a win for programs like Houston, but a threat to athlete earning power and conference giants. Will this bill level the playing field or undermine college sports’ booming business?
