The Miami Dolphins fall to 0-2 after a 35-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium — and the final score only tells part of the story. Miami actually controlled much of the first half. The Dolphins outgained San Francisco 166-125 before halftime, ran 35 plays to the 49ers' 20 and possessed the football for 19:17. De'Von Achane had 63 rushing yards by halftime, and Miami repeatedly moved into scoring position. But the Dolphins couldn't finish. Miami's first three scoring opportunities produced a missed field goal and two made field goals. San Francisco responded by scoring touchdowns on each of its first five possessions. Then the game exploded. The 49ers outscored Miami 21-0 in the third quarter, turning a competitive 14-6 halftime game into a 35-6 blowout. Brock Purdy finished 20-of-22 for 287 yards with two passing touchdowns, added 30 rushing yards and another touchdown, and Miami's defense had virtually no answer for Kyle Shanahan's offense. Even more alarming: Christian McCaffrey was held to just 23 rushing yards on 10 carries, yet San Francisco still scored 35 points. Malik Willis finished 14-of-23 for 197 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, but 77 of those yards and Miami's only touchdown came on a late connection with Ryan Miller with the Dolphins already trailing 35-6. Achane finished with 20 carries for 74 yards after Miami made a clear effort to feature him. GRIES, Kyle Crabbs and former Dolphins defensive lineman Jeff Zgonina break down the defensive collapse, Miami's inability to finish drives, the lack of pressure without Chop Robinson, another afternoon of costly mistakes, Willis and the passing game, Jeff Hafley's 0-2 start and what comes next with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs coming to Miami. #MiamiDolphins #Dolphins #FinsUp #Dolphins49ers #MiamiDolphinsNews #MalikWillis #DeVonAchane #JeffHafley #BrockPurdy #49ers #NFL #NFLWeek2 #LockedOnDolphins The next game is indeed Miami's home opener against Kansas City on September 27. \*\*\*\*\* 'LIVE' Miami Dolphins Commentary + Analysis from Miami Dolphins Defensive Tackle Jeff “Z” Zgonina, Locked On Dolphins' Kyle Crabbs and Host Jim “GRIES” Grieshaber. Everybody knows what the Miami Dolphins lost this offseason. Today, the Dolphins Squad Show flips the conversation and asks a much more interesting question: What if these young Dolphins can actually play? Jim “GRIES” Grieshaber is joined by Dolphins insider Kyle Crabbs and former Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Jeff Zgonina to examine the young players and position groups that could outperform expectations during the 2026 NFL season. Miami enters the season with one of the youngest rosters in football, and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley have made it clear that youth, development and opportunity are central to the organization’s new direction. The Squad begins by examining what Miami actually has rather than focusing exclusively on what the Dolphins lack. Then the spotlight turns to one of the most fascinating position groups on the roster: wide receiver. Could Malik Washington legitimately emerge as Miami’s leading receiver? Is 6-foot-4 rookie Caleb Douglas ready for a breakout season? What is Chris Bell’s ceiling now that he has returned from ACL surgery? Where does Kevin Coleman Jr. fit after flashing throughout training camp? And can Bobby Slowik use the versatility of this young group to create matchup problems across the formation? GRIES, Kyle and Z also dive into a linebacker room that suddenly looks much more intriguing than expected. Veteran Jordyn Brooks provides the foundation, but Miami made one of its boldest roster decisions by releasing Tyrel Dodson — who recorded 129 tackles last season — and handing major responsibility to rookie Jacob Rodriguez. What did Rodriguez show the Dolphins to win that job? How does Willie Gay Jr.’s hybrid versatility change Hafley’s defense? Can Jackson Woodard translate his turnover-filled preseason into defensive snaps? And where does versatile rookie Kyle Louis fit? Then the Squad selects Miami’s biggest potential breakout players on both sides of the football. Names include Caleb Douglas, Malik Washington, Chris Bell, Jonah Savaiinaea, Chop Robinson, Jacob Rodriguez, Dante Trader Jr., Chris Johnson Jr., Jackson Woodard and Keith Cooper Jr. Finally, attention begins turning toward Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders and veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins. Miami’s young linebackers and secondary will immediately face an experienced quarterback capable of identifying mistakes before the snap. National expectations for the Dolphins are extremely low. Now the young players Miami chose have an opportunity to change the conversation. The kids got the jobs. Now we find out if the kids can play. #MiamiDolphins #Dolphins #FinsUp #DolphinsSquadShow #NFL #MalikWashington #CalebDouglas #ChrisBell #JacobRodriguez #ChopRobinson #JeffHafley #MalikWillis \*\*\*\*\* 'LIVE' Miami Dolphins Commentary + Analysis from Miami Dolphins Defensive Tackle Jeff “Z” Zgonina, Locked On Dolphins' Kyle Crabbs and Host Jim “GRIES” Grieshaber. Miami Dolphins offensive line dominates despite offensive struggles—are brighter days ahead for South Florida football fans? Kyle Crabbs spotlights standout performances from Patrick Paul and Jonah Savaiinaea in the Week 3 clash against the Kansas City Chiefs, praising their trench play and detailed tape grades. Key discussions include Kadyn Proctor’s development at guard, Aaron Brewer’s steady presence, and Austin Jackson’s improved right tackle play. Despite elite pass blocking and run game execution, the Dolphins’ offense stalls, raising questions about Ollie Gordon’s rushing decisions and Malik Willis’s roller-coaster at quarterback. Crabbs breaks down why individual execution doesn’t always translate to team success and explores how snap counts, running back usage, and missed opportunities affected the scoreboard. Listeners get a granular look at player performances, positional battles, and what needs to change for Miami to maximize its offensive potential moving forward. Miami Dolphins stumble against Kansas City Chiefs as penalties and missed opportunities overshadow a gritty performance. Can Miami overcome mounting adversity after losing De'Von Achane to injury and crucial red zone miscues? Kyle Crabbs breaks down the Dolphins’ narrow defeat, calling out costly special teams blunders and questionable clock management that tipped the scales in favor of the Chiefs. The show spotlights Malik Willis’ promise as a rusher, Ollie Gordon’s hard-nosed play, and Chris Bell’s explosive but inconsistent outing. Insightful commentary examines Jeff Hafley’s growing influence on team culture, Dolphins’ defensive progress against Patrick Mahomes, and how upcoming matchups—especially against the undefeated Minnesota Vikings—will test Miami’s resilience. Injury updates and the evolving roles of rookies like Malik Washington and Kevin Coleman Jr. raise pressing questions about Miami's offensive future. The Miami Dolphins held the ball for more than 32 minutes, finished just 18 yards behind Kansas City, and matched the Chiefs with 18 first downs. But the final score was Chiefs 24, Dolphins 10—and the difference was what happened when the game turned on a handful of high-pressure plays. Kansas City scored touchdowns on its first two possessions. Miami answered with a 17-play, 91-yard touchdown drive finished by Ollie Gordon, but De’Von Achane left with a knee injury and did not return. The Dolphins defense then settled in, shut out the Chiefs in the third quarter, and kept Miami within striking distance. Rookie Jacob Rodriguez made one of the game’s biggest plays, diving for an interception off Patrick Mahomes and returning it 18 yards. Chris Bell came up with a big catch, Caleb Douglas drew penalties, and Greg Dulcich gave Miami a spark in the passing game. The defense also stopped Kansas City on fourth down and made a goal-to-go stand that forced a field goal. Miami had opportunities to turn those moments into a comeback. Instead, the Dolphins finished with two turnovers and eight penalties for 64 yards. With about six minutes left, they went for it on fourth-and-five from their own 48 and came up short. Kansas City answered with a five-play touchdown drive, capped by Mahomes’ 11-yard pass to Travis Kelce. Willis threw a late interception, and even though Harrison Butker missed a 50-yard field goal, the game was already decided. GRIES, Kyle Crabbs, and Jeff “Z” Zgonina break down the defensive adjustment, Rodriguez’s rookie performance, Achane’s injury, Miami’s missed chances, and the fourth-down decision that set up Kansas City’s final touchdown. #MiamiDolphins #ChiefsKingdom #DolphinsSquadShow #NFL #DolphinsPostgame ***** 'LIVE' Miami Dolphins Commentary + Analysis from Miami Dolphins Defensive Tackle Jeff “Z” Zgonina, Locked On Dolphins' Kyle Crabbs and Host Jim “GRIES” Grieshaber.
