Locked On Islanders - Daily Podcast On The New York Islanders

The New York Islanders signed free agent forward Anthony Duclair to a four-year deal worth a total of $14 million. Duclair adds speed an skill to the lineup and at 28, is still in his prime. Duclair played junior hockey under Patrick Roy and Roy's presence behind the bench was a major reason he signed with the Islanders. We discuss what Duclair adds to the Isles lineup and where he'll fit in.

The Islanders also re-signed defenseman Mike Reilly and added a new defensive coach in Tommy Albelin to replace Doug Houda and we now know the first two games of the Isles schedule for the 2024-25 regular season with the rest of the schedule to drop on Tuesday.

We break down how the Isles got into this mess and what they need to do to get out of it. It involves making some unpleasant and difficult decisions but is Lou up for doing that?

Plus, we take a look at draft prospect Ryder Ritchie and what he could add to the Isles if they select him with the 20th overall pick in the NHL Draft.

Plus, where do the Isles goalies rank in the league and we continue our draft  profiles with Russian winger Igor Chernyshov.

We all know the New York Islanders don't have a lot of cap space or NHL-ready prospects right now but today we discuss two ways the team can improve next season even if Lou Lamoriello isn't able or willing to make a major move this offeason.

These two improvements could give the team more wins and less blown leads or overtime losses but they won't be easy to implement without some changes to the lineup.

Plus, we continue to look at players the Isles could select with the 20th overall pick as we preview Sacha Boisvert.

First round draft picks get the most attention in the NHL but the New York Islanders have truly found some gems in the later rounds of the NHL draft. In fact, they have found players are late as the 14th round (now there are only seven) who became major contributors to the team's dynasty.

Today we examine the best late round draft picks made by the Isles from Garry Howatt and Stefan Persson all the way up to Matt Martin and Anders Lee.

Plus, as the Edmonton Oilers seek to become the first team to come back from a 3-0 series deficit in the Stanley Cup Finals, we remember the Isles magic comeback from a 3-0 series deficit in 1975, the series that announced the arrival of the team as a true contender under Al Arbour.
