Now that the NFL Draft has passed, the 2020 Jets roster is largely set. A signing or two is still possible, and some roster spots will be determined in training camp and the preseason. Still we now have a good understanding of what the team will look like. Whether we know playing time allocations varies position by position.
On today's podcast we look at the Jets offense. Looking at each position, we determine which spots are subject to a camp battle. Some starting jobs are up in the air. So are some backup jobs. Additionally, there are playing time situations that are unclear whether or not the player is a starter. Some backups get more action than others. We will discuss this all on today's show.

On our show we look at what realistic expectations for Breshad Perriman should be in his first season with the Jets, the extent to which Sam Darnold might benefit from having an experienced backup like Joe Flacco as a mentor, the extent to which Adam Gase is capable of adapting his system to fit the talent his team has, whether Jamal Adams has any choice but to play out his contract for the Jets, whether Gase will keep his job if the Jets have another 7-9 season, and which Jet would be most likely to have the ability to play on both sides of the ball.

Most weeks were a struggle for the Jets offense in 2019. The reasons for this were numerous. The talent level was low. The quarterback missed three games. Other obstacles emerged. The coaching also didn't do much to make things better. The team is hoping for a much better performance this season in all of these areas. On today's podcast my focus is on expectations for the offense in 2020 and how it is constructed by the coaches.
For all of the talk of Adam Gase being innovative at the time he was hired, we didn't see much innovation in 2019. Players were not put in positions to maximize their skillsets, and many of the team's general philosophies seemed outdated. Today's podcast focuses on what should improve to help the Jets maximize what talent they do have on offense in the upcoming season.

The last few days have been pretty eventful considering it is May. There usually is not much football to discuss, but a couple of relevant news stories have emerged for the Jets.
The first is the signing of a new backup quarterback. Joe Flacco agreed to terms with the Jets late last week on a one year contract. Flacco was a long-time member of the Baltimore Ravens. He spent 2019 with the Denver Broncos.
News also broke late last week of an "impasse" between the Jets and All Pro safety Jamal Adams on contract negotiations. Adams has two years left on his rookie contract, but he is seeking a new deal this offseason.
On today's podcast we discuss these recent developments. Both of these stories are complex. Flacco provides the Jets an upgrade over their previous backup, but he is a less than desirable option. Adams' contract status is up in the air. He is no lock to remain a Jet for the long term, but this story also might be overhyped. We discuss all of this and more on today's show.

Joining our podcast today is Dan Burnham. Dan is the host of This Is the Jet Life, which is a great Jets podcast. If you haven't listened to the show in the past, you should definitely check it out.
On today's podcast Dan and I discuss the Jets offseason. We talk about which moves were our favorites and least favorites. We also discuss the state of the wide receiver position and the wide variety of potential outcomes. Additionally we go into expectations for the team in 2020. Tom Brady is gone, and the division is wide open for the first time in recent memory. Can the Jets take advantage? Who is the biggest obstacle in the way of reclaiming the East for the first time in close to twenty years? We talk about all this and more.

For most players on the Jets we have a good idea about their projected role. CJ Mosley is going to be the star linebacker. Jamison Crowder will be the slot receiver. Steve McLendon will be the nose tackle who plays on run downs.
There are a handful of players whose projected role with the team is less clear. The Jets might even be in "wait and see" mode on these players depending on what happens in training camp. The responsibilities these players eventually take could have major implications for the 2020 season.
On today's podcast we discuss some of these players. It is difficult to say exactly where Frank Gore, Ashtyn Davis, David Fales, Bless Austin, and Greg Van Roten slot into the team. Some actually might not. A few players on that list are no lock to even make the team. Today we discuss the variety of potential roles all of these players could have on the 2020 Jets.
