On today's podcast we continue NFC West week. Alex Clancy of Locked on Cardinals joins the show for a Jets-Cardinals crossover episode.
The Jets and the Cardinals have many parallels. Both are trying to build around young quarterbacks and trying to make up for years of poor offensive line building. Both got some favorable luck in the Draft and had unexpected players fall to them on day two. Both have unproven coaches trying to build winning teams. Alex and I talk about the offseasons the two teams have had as we look forward to the 2020 season.

The four teams from the NFC West will appear on the Jets' schedule this year.
This week we will chat with representatives of the four teams on podcast episodes. If you follow the show during the regular season, you know about our weekly crossover show previewing the upcoming opponent. We are taking that concept into the offseason by checking in on how the NFC West did in free agency and the Draft.
We start today with the Rams. Brad Mader is the host of Locked on Rams. On this Monday show we share how our respective teams did in the Draft and free agency. We also share thoughts on how the Jets and Rams did during the 2019 season along with expectations for the year ahead.

Today is our first podcast mailbag since the 2020 NFL Draft took place. The Jets added nine new players through their selections and another through trade last weekend. Now we start thinking about the next season. Thanks to all who sent in questions. There were an enormous number this week so I unfortunately could not get to all of them. Please feel free to resend your question for the next mailbag if it went unanswered this week.
On today's show we discuss additional signings the Jets should make, whether offensive line Frank Pollack will be able to develop the young talent the Jets drafted, whether the team only picking one receiver was an expression of confidence in the guys already here, what to expect from Denzel Mims as a rookie, the validity of certain criticisms of the team's Draft approach, whether Adam Gase's job would be in jeopardy with a bad season, whether Avery Williamson or Henry Anderson are trade candidates, and whether the Jets should have waited until the second round to take an offensive lineman.

The 2020 NFL Draft is now complete, and the Jets have added nine new players (ten if you count a trade). The Draft was a big moment for these players. It was also significant to players already on the team. Depending on whom the Jets did or did not select, current members of the team might see increased or decreased playing time. There are also long-term implications for players.
That is the topic of today's podcast. I offer some thoughts on which players were most positively and negatively impacted by the Jets' approach. Some players will now have more of an opportunity to make an impact. Some will have less. Some might view the lack of a pick at their position as a vote of confidence for the future. Others might see their time with the Jets numbered.

We now have the full 2020 NFL Draft class for the Jets. On yesterday's podcast I went through pick by pick and offered thoughts on each player the Jets added. On today's show I give thoughts on the big picture. What did I like? What didn't I like? What did I notice?
I think any discussion of likes has to start with the offensive line. After years of ignoring the trenches in the early stages of the Draft, the Jets used the eleventh pick and another top 130 pick on offensive line prospects. They also added additional picks during the value stages of the Draft. These were among my likes. What about dislikes? The addition of Denzel Mims feels like a great value, but only adding one receiver in a deep class at the position feels like a missed opportunity. What is a general thought? The Jets clearly valued measurables in this Draft. Whether that will ultimately prove to be a successful approach is unclear.

The 2020 NFL Draft is now complete. The Jets selected nine players over the weekend and traded for another.
On today's podcast we look at what the Jets did this weekend. Any immediate analysis of the Draft is likely insufficient. We are attempting to project the long-term value of players who have not taken a snap in the NFL yet. But for now all we have is immediate analysis.
Today's show goes pick by pick starting in the second round (since Friday's podcast was centered around Mekhi Becton). I offer my thoughts on the pros and cons of each player the Jets landed.

The newest member of the Jets is Louisville tackle Mekhi Becton whom they selected with the 11th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The 2020 NFL Draft begins today. Tonight the first round gets underway around 8:00 pm Eastern. It will be televised on ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network. Rounds two and three will take place on Friday night, and the fourth through seventh rounds will happen on Saturday.
The Jets currently hold the eleventh overall pick in the Draft. That, of course, could change if they decide either to trade up or trade down.
On today's podcast I discuss tonight's possibilities. I do not think the Jets should be seeking a trade up. They will have a good option at pick number eleven even if it is not their first choice. There are a number of good prospects at tackle and wide receiver. At least one will probably be there for them.

Since tomorrow is the scheduled start of the 2020 NFL Draft, our weekly mailbag show is moving up to Wednesday this week. Thanks to everybody who sent in questions for this mailbag. There were more good questions than there was time to answer all of them so apologies go to those whose questions went unanswered.
On today's show we look at whether the Jets should seek a trade for OJ Howard now that the Buccaneers have acquired Rob Gronkowski, how close the Jets defense is to being championship caliber, what the Jets will need to do to make their 2020 Draft class a success, whether the Jets should seek an extension for safety Marcus Maye, how angry fans should be with early picks on defensive players, and whether a Super Bowl, won in a shortened season would have the same meaning.
