Locked On Jets - Daily Podcast On The New York Jets

While NFL rosters are now mostly set for the 2020 season, there remain a handful of big name free agents still available. Many of these players will sign with a new team between now and the start of the season. A few of them will make a significant contribution to their team. There have been rumors about the Jets being interested in many of these players. On today's podcast we will discuss how many of them would be good fits for the Jets.

In particular we will talk about Jadeveon Clowney, Logan Ryan, Larry Warford, Jason Peters, and Joe Flacco. It is unclear how much interest the Jets have in any of these players. For some of these players, it likely would depend on the price dropping. In some cases the Jets might have no interest. On today's show the focus is on how much these players would improve the team and what kind of salary would make sense.

Today we conclude our series of shows chatting with AFC West teams. The Jets face the four teams from that division this year. The Jets have an early season Thursday night game scheduled against the Denver Broncos. Joining me to talk about that team is Cody Roark, host of Locked on Broncos, to talk about what is happening in Denver.

The Broncos and the Jets have some similarities. Both teams have second year coaches. Both teams are trying to develop young quarterbacks and made Draft picks attempting to help them. Both teams are expecting to have quality defenses. How do the Broncos stack up in their division, though? What is expected of them? What offense moves will help them move forward? What are fans expecting? We will discuss all this and more on today's show.

We are in the middle of AFC West Week on the podcast. The Jets face the four teams from that division this year. Today our focus turns to the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. I am joined by Ryan Tracy, co-host of Locked on Chiefs.

The Chiefs have the best built offense in the league after you factor in scheme, talent, and quarterback. We discuss what makes the offense go and the most important part of the unit. We also talk about the way Kansas City has brought Patrick Mahomes along and the impact it has made on his development. We also chat about their Draft, future questions about how they will build their team, their defense, and their underappreciated special teams.

Today's podcast continues AFC West Week. The Jets are playing the four teams from that division this year so we are checking in on each of them. Joining me today is Daniel Wade, co-host of Locked on Chargers to talk about how 2020 looks.

The Chargers made significant changes this offseason. Longtime franchise quarterback Philip Rivers parted ways with the franchise. He is now a member of the Indianapolis Colts. The Chargers drafted Justin Herbert, a player they hope will become their next franchise quarterback.

2019 was a difficult year for the franchise. The Chargers lost a number of close games in the final seconds. Can they bounce back this coming season? What are some of the most improved areas on the team? What hasn't been addressed? We will talk about all of this and more on today's show.

Last week's podcasts focused on the NFC West. The Jets are scheduled to have games against all four NFC West teams in 2020. They are also scheduled to play the four teams from the AFC West this season. Those teams will be the focus on podcasts this week. We start things off today with the Raiders. Q Myers, host of Locked on Raiders, and I get together for a crossover show.

This is an interesting time for the Raiders. The team officially moved from Oakland to Las Vegas this offseason. Jon Gruden is now a couple of years into his ten year contract. Derek Carr remains under center. What are expectations for this team in the AFC West? How did their offseason go? What are the biggest improvements? What needs remain? We discuss this all and more on the show.

With NFC West Week complete, today is our weekly podcast mailbag. Thanks to everybody who submitted questions. There were more questions than time to answer them all. If yours went unanswered feel free to resend it for our next mailbag.

Today we discuss whether it feels like there is finally a good plan in place for the Jets, why so many teams passed on Denzel Mims before the Jets selected him in the second round of the NFL Draft, how the Jets can start taking advantage of the compensatory Draft pick system, whether Joe Douglas is doing enough to improve the roster, whether the way teams value quarterbacks will start to change in the NFL, the odds of Sam Darnold's fifth year option being declined, and what Adam Gase should need to do to stay after 2020.

Today we conclude NFC West Week on the podcast by talking about the Seattle Seahawks. This crossover episode will feature Corbin Smith, the host of Locked on Seahawks.

Corbin will discuss Seattle's 2020 Draft class. More than perhaps any other team in the league the Seahawks do their own thing. Their picks frequently go against consensus value. That was never truer than in the first round this year when they selected Jordyn Smith, a linebacker out of Texas Tech. We will hear Corbin talk about this pick and others the Seahawks made. We will also talk about a wide receiver Seattle is hoping will have a big second season along with the team's offensive and defensive philosophies and expectations.

We continue our NFC West crossover week on today's podcast. Next up are the defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers. Joining me is Brian Peacock, the host of Locked on 49ers.

The Niners will enter 2020 as one of the favorites to take the last step and win the Super Bowl. We will talk about what need to happen for San Francisco to get there. Will Jimmy Garoppolo take on a bigger role in his second full season as a starter? Will George Kittle remain their go to guy, or will a younger skill player become the focal point? How will Trent Williams perform after a year off? Who is the unsung hero of a top defense? We discuss this all and more.
