On today's podcast we take a look at the approach the Jets had in free agency in 2018. There still might be a move here or there. It might even be a major move. We are deep enough into the process to draw some conclusions about how the Jets approached free agency.
Naturally comparisons will be drawn with the last time the Jets were flush with cap space. That was three years ago in Mike Maccagnan's first offseason. The Jets spent big that year. It helped them win 10 games, but many of their additions turned sour in year two.
A number of observers have pointed out that the Jets seemingly have targeted younger players this time around than they did in 2015. That is a valid point, but I see other big philosophical differences.

It is Thursday, which means it is podcast mailbag day. Thanks again to everybody who submitted question. I got to as many as I could, but I could not get to all of them. Feel free to submit your question for next week's podcast if yours was not answered.
On today's show we look at whether there is anything the Jets can do to improve their offensive line at this point, whether the team has enough pieces on offense to support a rookie quarterback, the identity of the quarterback coach, whether trading back in the middle rounds of the Draft makes sense, how the league's salary floor works, whether the quarterback the Jets select will start Week 1 of his rookie year, and whether the Giants may pick a player who isn't a quarterback.

The Jets have done their best to remake their roster and improve on back to back 5-11 records. There will be tweaks between now and training camp. There might even be a big signing or two. There might be a trade. There certainly will be at least one franchise-altering pick in the upcoming Draft.
With that said, we now know what most of the roster will look like. There are a number of players who have to be considered wild cards at this point. They could really help the Jets. They also might disappoint for varying reasons. On today's podcast, we look at five such players. I put together a list of the top ten Jets wild cards. Today we will look at numbers ten through six. The top five will be unveiled on a later show.

The weekend for the Jets was dominated by speculation about a star player. Defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh is a free agent. Word broke on Friday that the Jets had interest in him. A report even came out that they had made Suh his biggest offer. For two days, Jets fans waited to hear more news. Then on Sunday we found out the Jets had pulled their offer.
On today's podcast, I offer some brief thoughts on the brief Suh chase. Then I focus on the rest of the offseason. As promised by the general manager, the Jets have been active in free agency. The moves the team has made and hasn't made have shaped the roster in 2018. I take a look at two positions where some incumbent players will be asked to take on a bigger role this year for the Jets and two positions where incumbents stand to lose playing time because of the moves the Jets have made,

Many of you do not live in the Northeast. On a day like this, you probably consider yourself lucky as the region was hit with yet another snowstorm. As the rest of us shovel out, today we turn to a podcast mailbag that will hopefully entertain.
We look at whether the Jets can land themselves a new second round pick in a trade this year, why I am singing a different tune on drafting a quarterback early than I was a year ago, whether the Jets' woes in recent years have been due to avoiding the premium positions in the first round of the Draft, what direction the Jets might go with their third round pick, and whether Saquon Barkley might be a good option with the third overall pick.

It has been an eventful week for the Jets. Their salary cap space has facilitated a number of additions who will hopefully upgrade the roster moving forward.
While these moves are worst discussing, two stand above all others. One was a move the Jets didn't make. Another was one they did.
The Jets were unable to land free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins who found his way to the Minnesota Vikings. They were, however, able to trade up to obtain the third overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
These will likely be remembered as legacy moments for Mike Maccagnan. Whether they will ultimately be remembered as good or bad, we can only guess at this point. They have, however, unquestionably altered expectations for the 2018 New York Jets. On today's podcast we discuss how expectations have changed due to these two major developments.

It was a big weekend for the Jets. The team made a bold move that changed the complexion of the 2018 NFL Draft. For the price of the sixth overall pick and three second round selections over the next two seasons, the Jets struck a deal with the Indianapolis Colts to acquire the third overall pick in the upcoming Draft.
Owning a top three pick, the Jets now look extremely likely to take a quarterback in the hopes of finding a long-term solution at the most important position on the field for the first time in a very long time.
That is the topic of today's podcast. After we address some of the minor news of the weekend, we look at the trade. Was it the right move? Was the value good? What about the timing of the deal? There are a lot of different aspects to discuss.
