Locked On Kings - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Kings

Giving NHL Draft grades right after the draft is fine but to really know what proper grade to give a draft class you have to go back and see how those players actually develop and contribute (or not) to the NHL team that drafted them. We go back five years and breakdown the LA Kings 2017 NHL Draft class and see what its real grade is. Plus it looks like the Kings will definitely be over the salary cap before the start of next season.

The Kings have also hired Jim Hiller as an assistant coach to try to get the team's struggling power play on track and Alex Turcotte continues to struggle to stay on the ice.

We talk about what it seems like the approach is going to be and whether or not that's a good idea. Kevin Fiala also spoke about his game and how it will fit in on the team. With his defensive game still being a work in progress, will that be a hindrance to gaining Todd McLellan's trust? Plus, with the Blackhawks trading Alex DeBrincat, we look back at the Fiala trade and see if the Kings could or should have tried to make a deal for DeBrincat instead.
