Locked On Mets - Daily Podcast On The New York Mets

Starling Marte would be a great fit in the New York Mets outfield next season, but the question is how much will it take to sign him?

The 33-year-old free agent is set to be the top outfielder on the open market and is coming off a career-year. Host Ryan Finkelstein breaks down Marte's career up to this point and how much a player of his caliber could command in free agency.

Can Marte get close to making what George Springer received as the top free agent outfielder last offseason? Or will he have to settle for something closer to what Lorenzo Cain received back in 2018?

The New York Mets did not have many finalists for awards this season, but Jacob deGrom still found a way to be named a finalist for a major award, as he is up to win the Silver Slugger. DeGrom's offensive season was pretty spectacular but how does it compare to the other finalists who made all of their starts and weren't hurt in the second half?

What is the Mets history with winning awards and why is that significant when judging the team as a whole?

Could this be the last Silver Slugger a pitcher will ever win?

The last time the New York Mets signed a 33-year-old free agent outfielder, Curtis Granderson helped lead the Mets to a World Series. Could Starling Marte bring similar results to Queens?

As free agency is about to open, we take a look back at the best free agent signing the New York Mets have made in the past decade, Curtis Granderson.

Granderson signed a four-year, $60 million contract with the Mets prior to the 2014 season and was the best player on the 2015 team that went to the World Series.

Host Ryan Finkelstein recaps Granderson's tenure with the Mets and why they should consider making a similar signing this offseason with Starling Marte.

Nick Castellanos is set to be one of the top free agent hitters available this offseason after his first All-Star campaign in 2021. Still, the New York Mets should avoid Castellanos at all costs.

Host Ryan Finkelstein dives into the drastic home/road splits and terrible defense that makes Castellanos a bad fit for the Mets this offseason. If fans expect Castellanos to be a big upgrade over Michael Conforto, they are sorely mistaken.

The New York Mets search for a new President of Baseball Operations has not resolved itself, as Steve Cohen and Sandy Alderson continue to search for an executive to take over the franchise.

As big name candidates continue to fall off the board with each passing day, is it time to panic about how long this hiring process has taken?

Host Ryan Finkelstein breaks down where things stand and why there is no reason to draw any conclusions based on what we know right now.

Robinson Cano was suspended for the entirety of the 2021 MLB season after testing positive for steroids for the second time in his career. Cano will be back next season though, as the New York Mets still owe the 39-year-old a little more than $40 million over the next two seasons. But is having Cano around really such a bad thing?

Host Ryan Finkelstein makes the argument for why Cano will bring positive value to the Mets next season and why fans should not be worried about his contract. For a team that lacked offense all year, Ryan explains how Cano can still bring a punch to the Mets lineup and fill a valuable role on the team in 2022.

Jacob deGrom was in the midst of one of the greatest seasons in MLB history, before an injury derailed his bid for an MVP.

Without deGrom, the Mets plummeted in the standings in the second half and fans were robbed of getting to see the ace make MLB history. That is why this comes in at No. 1 in our series of the top 10 disappointments of the 2021 season.

Host Ryan Finkelstein breaks down deGrom's season and how missing out on a Cy Young for the second year in a row will impact his Hall of Fame legacy.
