Locked On Mets - Daily Podcast On The New York Mets

New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom was on the verge of one of the greatest seasons in MLB history in 2021, before the MVP-favorite went on the Injured List for the entirety of the second half. Now with an opt-out in his contract following next season, one of the most underpaid players in the game could demand a new deal to remain with the Mets past 2022.

Host Ryan Finkelstein goes through the circumstances surrounding deGrom's first contract extension and how he ended up on one of the best bargain deals in the sport and discusses his need for a new contract. He also breaks down why the Mets could be hesitant to extend their ace after an injury-plagued campaign.

Yesterday the New York Mets announced that manager Luis Rojas would not be returning next season. Did Rojas deserve to get blamed for the team's second half collapse or was it all out of his control?

Host Ryan Finkelstein also discusses the revolving door the Mets have had in recent years when it comes to their hires in the front office and on the coaching staff. Will this franchise finally find some continuity this offseason?

Also could we see a return of Carlos Beltran as the Mets manager next season?
