The Nets were one of the slowest teams in the league last season and it caused issues for them on both sides of the ball. Things have to change this time around and it looks like Ben Simmons could be a difference maker when it comes to the speed of the team.

Simmons has come out and said he wants the team to have more of a run-and-gun style. And that makes sense for his type of play. But is the rest of the team ready for it?

Doug Norrie takes a look at the pace numbers from last season, where the Nets ranked, and how they can improve this time around.

Following up on some quotes from media day, the Locked on Nets check in on what Cam Thomas had to say about his role going into this season. Or more importantly, what he didn’t have to say about his role. It seemed the third-year guard is still unclear about what will happen for him going into this season.

It seems that we could be heading for another year of Cam Thomas not in the Nets’ regular rotation, a continued mystery for a guy who’s filled it up in the scoring department when given the chance.

Adam Armbrecht and Doug Norrie talk about Cam Thomas’s words and also what Jacque Vaughn had to say (or not say) about the situation.

Cam Johnson revealed that he has a minor hamstring issue that could affect some of his time in training camp this season. While it doesn’t appear to be a huge deal, it does raise some interesting questions about the team this season and the depth chart.

What should fans expect when it comes to players missing time and have we become a bit scarred by past injury issues on this Nets’ team?

The Locked on Nets discuss Cam Johnson, who would be set to replace him in the lineup if the injury persists and what this season could look like on the injury front.

Cam Thomas is a lightning rod for the Nets fanbase. While some view the organization as the culprit in his lack of minutes, others see his ball-dominant style as road block to quality team basketbball.

Whichever the case, there is no denying Cam Thomas has offensive production, and certainly provides a skill-set the Nets desperately need.

With a healthy Ben Simmons at the helm, Adam makes the case that the time is now to put the third year Guard into the starting lineup. His perimeter shooting, attack the basket ability and finishing at the rim are can make the Nets offense a consistent threat.

Adam also looks at what it means to move Spencer Dinwiddie to the second unit, why the question marks around depth furthers support Thomas to thee starting five, and how the organization needs to be committed to the youth of this roster.

Adam joins Gavin Schall from Locked On Knicks to talk Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson, Cam Thomas and all the the New York chatter around Brooklyn and New York.

While The Knicks have the goal of a deep playoff run, Gavin notes that much of their success is dependent on the growth of RJ Barrett and the expansion of Quintin Grimes game. It strikes a similar chord in Brooklyn where what Cam Thomas' role ultimately becomes will have a massive offensive impact on the Nets season.

Of course the touch on Ben Simmons, Julius Randle who, for different reasons, are veterans that need to assert their role and value, and why in both cities being prepared for an additional superstar remains at the forefront of the long-term decision making. Last but not least the all important season series and if thee tide has turned to the favor of the blue and orange.
