Locked On Panthers - Daily Podcast On The Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers head coach announced to the media on Monday that PJ Walker would remain the Panthers QB heading into the road matchup against the Atlanta Falcons despite reports that Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield could be available. Is sticking with Walker the right move?

After seven weeks, the Panthers find themselves only a game out of first place in the NFC South. Narratives can change quickly in the NFL. One week, Carolina is trading away two key offensive pieces. The next, they're eyeing a division crown. What would be best for the franchise long-term, building a winning culture this season or being in position atop the draft to select a QB?

Former Panther RB Christian McCaffrey made his debut in San Francisco on Sunday in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Meanwhile, Chuba Hubbard and D'Onta Foreman combined for a big day in the Panthers win against Tampa. How much did trading McCaffrey impact the success of the offense?

The Carolina Panthers earned the first win of the Steve Wilks era by blowing out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 21-3, at Bank of America Stadium. The win represents possibly the most inexplicable win in franchise history considering the team was a 13-point home underdog, coming off back-to-back losses, and traded away Christian McCaffrey earlier in the week.

Wilks let it be known earlier in the week that the Panthers coaches and players had no interest in tanking the rest of the season. Julian Council explains why Sunday's victory is a loud statement for Wilks and his desire to turn around the Panthers season.

PJ Walker earned the start at QB for the second straight week as Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield continue to rehab ankle injuries. Walker had his best performance as a Panthers, throwing two touchdown passes. Following the game, Wilks was asked whether Walker would remain the starter when Darnold and Mayfield are back to health. Wilks responded by saying that "it would be tough" to take the job away from Walker. Should PJ remain the Panthers QB1?

Despite a 2-5 start to the season, the Panthers are 2-0 in the NFC South, and only a game back of first place, with tiebreakers over New Orleans and division-leading Tampa. Could the Panthers find themselves in the middle of a division race?

The Carolina Panthers traded former All-Pro RB Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers late Thursday night. The Panthers received a 2nd round pick in 2023, a third-rounder in 2023, and a fourth-round pick in 2023. Plus, a fifth-rounder in 2024.

Julian Council reacts to whether the Panthers got enough, what this means in terms of the franchises rebuild moving forward, and much more.

The Carolina Panthers are set to welcome their NFC South division rival Tampa Bay Buccanneers on Sunday afternoon at Bank of America Stadium. PJ Walker is slated to get the start this week but will either Sam Darnold or Baker Mayfield lead the offense in Atlanta next week? Trade rumors also abound as the futures of Christian McCaffrey and Shaq Thompson are up in the air. Julian Council answers these questions among others in this week's edition of the Weekly Friday Mailbag.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Carolina Panthers are the team to watch as the NFL trade deadline approaches. The Panthers have until November 1st at 4:00 p.m. EST to decide what to do with players like Christian McCaffrey, Brian Burns, Derrick Brown, and DJ Moore. Should the Panthers keep their defensive core togehter?

Shaq Thompson was also listed among players that could be headed out of Carolina. Where would Carolina go at LB for the rest of the season? What possibilities could trading Shaq have for the team come the 2023 NFL Draft?

McCaffrey is the main player of interest in Carolina as the deadline approaches. The Bills, Rams, and 49ers have all been the teams reported to be interested in his services. Julian Council weighs the pros and cons of moving on from McCaffrey while also pondering a trade possibility with the Rams involving Cam Akers.

When coaches get fired, people talk. Well, people are talking about Matt Rhule. Julian shares a few of the reports that have been released highlighting the many philosophical flaws of the Rhule era.

The Carolina Panthers traded WR Robbie Anderson to the Cardinals in exchange for a 6th-round pick in 2024 and a 7th-round pick in 2025. Ending Anderson's career in Carolina six weeks into a two-year, $29.5 million extension that he signed prior to the 2021 season. Anderson was long rumored to be headed out of Carolina but will he be the last to leave as the NFL's trade deadline approaches?

Panthers interim head coach Steve Wilks addressed the media a day after the team's 24-10 loss at LA. Wilks defended his offensive game plan along with offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo but was non-committal to reinstating Baker Mayfield as the team's starting QB when he returns from injury.

Sam Darnold is expected to be designated to return from IR this week, is it possible that Darnold starts on Sunday?

New coach, same result as the Carolina Panthers lost interim head coach Steve Wilks first game at the helm, 24-10, against the Rams.

Julian Council asks if we're watching not only the worst Panthers offense in franchise history but one of the worst in the history of the NFL.

The team's offensive "game plan" made it clear that the staff does not believe in PJ Walker. Does that mean that Wilks will turn to Baker Mayfield when he's healthy or Sam Darnold?

Panthers wide receiver Robbie Anderson was a non-factor on Sunday aside from his sideline antics. Anderson was shown twice getting in the face of Panthers receivers coach Joe Dailey. The second run-in led to Wilks asking Anderson to leave the game. Anderson, who is a part of trade rumors, later addressed what happened but is this the last that we see of Anderson Carolina?

The Panthers secondary is once again ravaged by injuries. May this be yet another contributing factor to what appears to be the NFL's worst team?

Steve Wilks will make his debut as the Carolina Panthers interim head coach on Sunday as the Panthers travel west to face the Los Angeles Rams. Sunday along with the next twelve games presents an opportunity for Wilks to earn the full-time job with his hometown team. What are the chances that he does?

Something that could possibly derail Wilks' chances is a possible fire sale of the Panthers top players in order to recoup draft picks and shed some cap space. Is this the most prudent move for the franchise moving forward?

Julian Council answers both of those questions and more in another edition of the Weekly Friday Mailbag.

The Carolina Panthers and interim head coach Steve Wilks head west to face the 2-3 Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon at SoFi Stadium. Like Carolina, the reigning Super Bowl champions have faltered out of the gates in 2022. Could this present an opportunity for the Panthers to "get right" and create momentum under Wilks?

Julian Council and Locked On Rams host Travis Rodgers break down the top storylines, and key matchups, and provide their predictions for Sunday's intraconference matchup.
