What's that? A Marc-Andre Fleury reunion, you say? That's right! Hunter starts the show by going full hypocrite mode and explains why this is the perfect opportunity for the Penguins to reunite with Marc-Andre Fleury. He also explains how a three-way trade could work to get the cap even lower for the Penguins, but even half would do. Would the dynamic with Jarry be weird? Can the Pens bet on him to be as good this season? He also discusses how he's the best bet of any of the available goaltenders right now. After that, Hunter previews free agency tomorrow and makes a prediction on how active the Penguins will be, plus if it makes sense to sign Zach Parise. All that, plus thoughts on the other moves as of late, in this episode of Locked On Penguins.

Welcome to free agency and we have a whole lot to unpack in this episode. Hunter first starts off with some fresh Penguins news as Mike Sullivan has been named Team USA"s coach for the Winter Olympics in 2022. What type of team is he likely to build? Can they potentially steal the gold medal from Canada? He also discusses ZAR getting his qualifying offer and what that means going forward. What will his contract likely be? After that, Hunter goes into all of the goalie talk as that is the Penguins No. 1 priority this week. Are they fully interested in Kuemper? Does Mrazek make more sense than Ullmark? What about Braden Holtby? He also discusses Brandon Saad & how great of a fit he would be. What contract would Hunter give him? All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

Silly season has arrived peeps! Before Hunter gets into that, he discusses the Penguins' schedule for next season and some key dates for their matchups against rival teams, Do they not see the Rangers till the second half? What are also his top 5 arenas for wanting to go see a game? When are the classic Western California trips and Western Canada trips? After that, he goes into all the ridiculous deals that were made on Friday and how two of the Penguins' biggest rivals got worse today. Surely the Penguins could get a good return for Pettersson, right? He also explains why everyone needs to never complain about Kris Letang's contract again after seeing the latest Seth Jones one. Finally, Hunter goes into what you should likely expect this weekend from Pittsburgh. Will a certain player be traded? Will they try to get into the 2nd round?

The Seattle Kraken have taken a player from the Pittsburgh Penguins and yes, it's a fan favorite. Hunter goes all into the Brandon Tanev pick from a lot of angles, but first explains why it's great for the team since it gives Pittsburgh a lot of cap space. It's also a player that can be replaced the easiest in free agency since he's on the 4th line. Who should they look to for replacing him? After that, Hunter gets to some listener ideas for using the cap space wisely. Does a Pettersson for Dadonov trade work? Does a trade for John Gibson look more likely now? All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

Hunter is joined by Josh Yohe on this special episode of Locked On Penguins and again, there's no shortage of topics to discuss. They first bring up the Jared McCann trade and why the optics behind it didn't make a lot of sense. Why couldn't they have left him exposed and just lost one player instead of two? Are the Penguins valuing the wrong things with protecting Blueger over him? They then switch to the goaltending discussion as none of this matters without good goaltending. Is it more likely to see them make a trade for one? Who could be their top target? They also discuss moving out more salary, if they could sign a forward in free agency, and a whole lot more!

With the Expansion Draft just days away, we finally have a potential look at what the Penguins are planning to do protection-wise. Or do we? Hunter explains why it would be a full galaxy brain situation to leave McCann unprotected but not Tanev. Why is McCann way more valuable than Tanev? He also explains how it doesn't matter which third defenseman is protected since Seattle likely won't take one of them (unless it's somehow Cody Ceci). After that, Hunter goes into YOUR protected lists that you sent into the Locked On Penguins Twitter account. Which one does Hunter agree with the most? What is also his final prediction for the draft? All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

We finally have some Pittsburgh Penguins news. They signed Teddy Blueger back today on a team-friendly two-year deal and that's what Hunter starts with on the show today! He analyzes the deal from many perspectives and speculates if this could be related to the expansion draft. Are the Penguins now thinking of protecting all four of their centers in case Geno might not be ready? Who then gets the last spot between McCann and Kapanen? He also wonders if how easily the team could replace Kapanen if he is selected by the Kraken. After that, he gets to some notes around the league, including the sad news about Shea Weber moving forward. He also brings up another interesting UFA option in Ryan Getzlaf. Would he chase a cup in Pittsburgh? Does the signing make sense after his struggle from this season?

We're really into the roots of the offseason now! The Wild bought out Zach Parise and Ryan Suter today and Hunter touches on that in the first segment and how it could impact the Penguins. Should they pursue one (or both) of them? What would Ryan Suter bring to the lineup? He also talks about Chris Driedger and how much money he's looking for on his next deal. Does it make sense to pair him with Tristan Jarry next season? Would it be too much money added to their cap? He also discusses the possibility of signing Kyle Palmieri from the New York Islanders. Would he be looking for a more lucrative offer? Which version of Palmieri this year more accurately portrays him? All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

Lots have happened across the NHL the last few days and Hunter is here to break it all down! He first starts with the Duncan Keith trade and how the Edmonton Oilers are continuing to not know how to build around Connor McDavid. How long will it be till he asks out? What other weird moves could be coming? He also touches on the Pierre McGuire hire from the Ottawa Senators and how this is sure to go badly. Will he actually embrace analytics? Could he take over for Dorion, who has one year left on his contract? Finally, Hunter touches on a free agent target for the Penguins, another from the Montreal Canadiens.

The Lightning have made history! In the first segment, Hunter recaps the Stanley Cup Final and what lessons can be taken from it, especially when it comes to the Pittsburgh Penguins going into next season. Do you actually need elite goaltending? Is the modern NHL going towards all speed and skill for 4 lines? Hunter also discusses Nikita Kucherov's press conference and why there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. We've needed a hockey personality for a long time and we finally got it! After that, there's a special crossover with Adam Denker of Locked On Lightning as the two discuss Tampa's run and how it compares to the Penguins cup runs. What was similar between the two? What was different? Do we deserve another Penguins-Lightning series?
