Hunter somehow recorded an episode after last night's debacle against the New York Islanders and yes...it wasn't pretty in the slightest. He starts by talking about Tristan Jarry and how he has cost them this series as it's unlikely that the Penguins come back from this deflated loss. He also goes into how luck has played a huge factor in this series and how it always does when it comes to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. If the Penguins do play like this again, could they send it back to Pittsburgh? Hunter also tells people to stop going after the core as they've been great in this series (especially Crosby and Letang). Other topics: Is this it for Tristan Jarry if Pittsburgh loses this series? Should there be any big changes next season? What needs to happen to beat Sorokin?

In this special episode of Locked On Penguins, Hunter brings on a couple of special guests, Nick Horwat and Nick Brlansky of the Tip of The Iceburgh podcast. The three talk more in-depth about the age last night, including that wild third period. What were their thoughts on the Islanders starting up some scrums? Was that Kelly Sutherland's worst officiating job of his career? After that, they get into Brandon Tanev's goal and how he's been a man on a mission since his comeback. Is this Kris Letang's best play since the 2016 postseason? Could he be a Conn Smythe candidate if the Penguins go deep into the playoffs. They also preview Game 4 on Saturday as the Islanders are considering a goalie change. Is Sorokin going to give them some life? All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

It's a late-night episode but there's a whole lot to get to when it comes to the Pittsburgh Penguins. After all, they are not boring. Hunter starts off by talking about the great start the Penguins had as they dominated play for the first 15 minutes and got a goal from ZAR. The Islanders were definitely going to make a push (and they did) before Jeff Carter and Jason Zucker answered the bell. After that, Hunter talks about the Islanders' play in the third period and how they tried to goon it up because it was their last resort. The Penguins obviously responded and then some. Hunter brings up the second Carter goal, plus how Brandon Tanev has become a folk hero in the town. Also: How was Tristan Jarry's performance overall? Is this the best hockey Kris Letang has played since 2016? What play did Sid make to save the game?

The Pittsburgh Penguins respond! The series now tied at one game apiece and Hunter is back to recap everything about Game 2. He first touches on the opening period and how Pittsburgh had the right "shoot first" mentality as Varlamov got his first start. Bryan Rust opened the scoring or "Big Game Bryan" as Hunter likes to call him, followed by Jeff Carter, who continues to make certain people look foolish. He also touches on the bounce-back from Tristan Jarry as he did what he's done all year after a bad outing. Also: Just how good have the Pens been against Barzal and Eberle? Do the Penguins have the best 4th line in hockey? What's the likeliest scenario to come from these next 2 games? All that, plus much more on today's episode.

The Pittsburgh Penguins dropped Game 1 against the New York Islanders but Hunter's here to tell you that nothing is lost...yet. Hunter goes over the positives to start the episode and there are a whole bunch of them, including the play of Sidney Crosby. He was ready to go right at the start of the game and didn't let up until the end. Will he continue to win his matchup against Pulock and Pelech? He also touches on the great play from Kris Letang and how Kapanen continues to be opportunistic. Of course, there was the loss and all of it falls on Tristan Jarry. What went wrong with the goals he gave up? Should we expect a bounce-back on Tuesday. Finally, Hunter welcomes Andy MacNeil from VSiNLive onto the show to talk NHL betting and what the lines are looking like for the game tomorrow, and a whole lot more.

Part 2 of a two-part crossover with Locked On Islanders is here! In this episode, Hunter and Gill go all into the matchups. Who will Barry Trotz put out against the Sidney Crosby line? Gil also gets into the BBB line that the Islanders have and how it's been one of the more underrated lines in hockey this season. Who will Mike Sullivan put out there against them? What can the Penguins exploit in the Islanders matchup? Is there anything that concerns Gil in matching up with Pittsburgh? The two also then get to their predictions for the series and I'm sure Penguins fans will like Hunter's but hate Gil's. It's showtime, peeps!

Part 1 of a 2 part preview is here as Hunter is joined by Locked On Islanders host Gil Martin in a special crossover. Both hosts discuss numerous topics in this episode, one of them being if Gil is concerned with how the Islanders played down the stretch. He also touches on if he thinks Palmieri and Zajac will turn it around after being a no-show in the regular season, then throws it back to Hunter on what he's worried about for this series. Can Tristan Jarry hold the fort down like he did in the second half of the regular season? Who's the Penguins X-Factor in this series? Also: Just how close was the season series? Hunter goes into the numbers a bit to show that this could've gone either way. What have the Penguins changed with how they play against the Islanders?

As promised, today's episode of Locked On Penguins is a special one as Jesse Marshall of The Athletic comes onto the show to preview Penguins vs Islanders. They first touch on the neutral zone and the defensive zone and how Pittsburgh is much better equipped to play against the Islanders system this time around. What are the Penguins doing better this time? They also touch on the duo of Jared McCann and Jeff Carter and how that creates a huge mismatch problem for Barry Trotz. They also talk about other matchups, such as what line Jesse sees going up against Barzal and vice versa with Trotz against the Crosby line. Also: Will the Penguins PK be bad enough where they cost them the series? What's the biggest reason as to why this time around would be different? All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

Today's a bit of a longer episode but at long last, Nick Zararis joins the show again to preview the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs as half of the matchups have been set. The two start with the Central and the Battle of Florida before heading over to the Carolina series. Does Florida have a chance to upset the champs, even without Ekblad? Who else, other than Juuse Saros, could will Nashville to a historic upset. They then go to the East Division and talk about how Boston-Washington will be the best series of the first round overall, before briefly touching on Penguins-Islanders. After that, they do the West division and if we don't get Colorado-Vegas in the second round, there may not be a God. Finally, they wrap up the episode with the North as everyone's hoping to see Matthews against McDavid in the second round and preview that division.

Are you playoff ready? The Pittsburgh Penguins certainly are after they locked up their first division title in seven years. Hunter recaps that achievement and how the Penguins proved a lot of doubters wrong by winning this division after so many people picked them to miss the playoffs. He also makes his case for why Mike Sullivan should win the Jack Adams Trophy as this was his finest coaching job since 2016. He also recaps the Penguins last win against the Sabres and how that's the kind of defensive performance they'll need if they want to go deep in the playoffs. Also: What is the preferred matchup between Boston and New York? Does Sidney Crosby have an actual chance at the Hart? What did Hunter get right and wrong during the season?
