The Red Sox closed out their 6-Game Road Trip with a 20-7 loss to the Rockies in the finale at Coors Field Wednesday afternoon. Sox went 1-5 on their road trip, losing all 3 to the Dodgers and lost 2 of 3 to the Rockies. 

Nick Pivetta got knocked around in taking the loss. Sox starter gave up a home run to Ezekiel Tovar to start off the home 1st inning. Pivetta threw 38 pitches and allowed 3 runs in the 1st and 2 more in the 2nd. He was chased from the game with 2 outs in the 3rd. Pivetta’s Line- 2.2 IP. 10 Hits. 8 Runs. 7 Earned Runs. 0 Walks. 6 Strikeouts. 2 Home Runs Allowed.

Benches emptied and tempers flared in the Top of the 4th. Reese McGuire and Cal Quantrill got into it after Quantrill got McGuire on a pop up to end the inning. Benches emptied. Bullpens emptied. Some guys yelled and then it was over. 

Remember went Rafael Devers was 1-for-16 with 1 RBI on the trip? He finished strong. 2 Doubles and an RBI in win Tuesday night. Devers with 3 hits and 2 Doubles in the finale. 

Jarren Duran had 3 hits including a 2-run triple in the 9th and his 3rd Home Run of the trip and 13th on the year. Duran has hit in 8 in a row. Sox are 7-6 when he homers. 

The Big News of the Day! Back to the Free Agent Conversation- ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported Wednesday that the Red Sox and manager Alex Cora have had discussions on a contract extension and it’s looking like a deal could be a real possibility. (Add On- NESN announced agreement was official in the post-game and Cora did address that it's a done deal as well.) 

Agree? Disagree? I think extending Cora is bigger than making 1 or more mid-level trades prior to next week’s deadline. If the Red Sox announce a new deal for Cora in the next week, would you be ok/content with that being the only move and no major deadline deals? Again.
