The Red Sox opened up their 4-Game Series against the Yankees Thursday night and lost the opener, 2-1, in 10 Innings.  The Red Sox collected only 4 hits in the loss and managed just 1 hit from the 6th Inning on against 4 Yankee relievers.  The Red Sox have lost 6 in a row on the road.

The Big Hit: Juan Soto delivered in the Bottom of the 10th Inning with an RBI Single against losing pitcher, Josh Winckowski.  It's the Yankees 2nd straight win in extra-innings.

Cooper's Night In The Bronx: Cooper Criswell made the start in the series opener vs. the Yankees.  Criswell gave up a Home Run to the leadoff hitter Gleyber Torres in the home 1st Inning.  Criswell retired the next 3 hitters to get out of the opening inning.  He retired the side 1-2-3 on 6 pitches in the Bottom of the 3rd.  Criswell gave up a single, walk & HBP in the 4th and left the bases full.  He got Aaron Judge to hit into an inning-ending Double Play in the5th.  Criswell gave up a leadoff Single in the 6th and was removed after he struck out Giancarlo Stanton.

Out of Pen I: Cam Booser entered with 1 out and 1 on in the 6th Inning.  Booser gave up a Single to Jazz Chisholm Jr and that put runners at 1st and 2nd with 1 Out.  Chisholm was caught off 1st-Base (2-3) for the 2nd Out.  Booser issued back-to-back walks to load up the bases with 2 outs and was removed from the game.  Zack Kelly entered and left the bases full by getting Anthony Volpe on a line out to Jarren Duran in leftfield.

Out of the Pen II: Justin Slaten worked in his 2nd straight game Thursday night and he worked a scoreless 7th Inning.  Slaten gave up a 2-out Single to Aaron Judge but nothing else.  Chris Martin got the 8th and retired the side 1-2-3 with a groundout and 2 strikeouts.  Kenley Janson sent the game to extra-innings by reting the Yankees in order in the Bottom of the 9th.

Tying It Up w/ Homer: Sox got on the board and tied the game at 1-1 against Nestor Cortes in the 5th Inning on a solo Home Run from Danny Jansen.  It was Jansen's 3rd Home Run with the Red Sox and his 1st since August 10th vs. Houston.  All 3 of his Home Runs with the Red Sox have been solo shots.
