The Red Sox opened up their 3-Game Series in Kansas City with an 9-5 win over the Royals.  Red Sox collected 18 hits in improving to 3-1 in their current 6-Game Road Trip.  The Sox have won 4 of their last 5 games and are back to 9 games over .500 overall.     

----- 2-Out Magic:  Jarren Duran broke a 2-2 in the 6th Inning when he delivered a 2-out, 2-run Double off lefty reliever Angel Zerpa.  It was Duran's 62nd Extra-Base hit of the season.  He's now hit safely in 17 of 18 games.  

----- In A Pinch: Sox extended the lead with a 4-run 7th Inning.  The big blow in the inning came with Romy Gonzalez coming off the bench and hitting a 2-run Home Run.  It's the Red Sox 4th Pinch-Hit Home Run of the season and the 2nd from Gonzalez.  

----- Paxton's Night in KC: James Paxton made his 2nd start with the Sox since being acquired from the Dodgers.  Paxton gave up a run in the 3rd on an RBI single from Bobby Witt Jr.  The Royals tied the game up at 2-2 in the 4th inning.  Michael Massey reached with a 2-out Triple and scored on an infield hit. Paxton retired the side 1-2-3 in the 5th and finished up by working a 1-2-3 6th Inning.

----- On the Board 1st: Alex Cora loaded up the lineup with lefty hitters vs. Royals starter, Brady Singer (.284 Batting Average against vs. LHH) in the opener.  The 1st 3 hitters reached with hits in the 2nd inning off Singer and David Hamilton got the Red Sox on the board with the game's 1st run with an RBI Double that plated Dominic Smith.  The Red Sox got 1 more in the 2nd with Duran bringing in Nick Sogard from 3rd with a groundout.

----- Play of the Night: Ceddanne Rafaela made a terrific catch in the Bottom of the 5th Inning and robbed Maikel Garcia of extra bases.  Rafaela running away from the infield in centerfield made the catch as he jumped in the air, caught the ball with his glove side fully extended and then he hit the base of the wall.  

----- Hit Streak I: Rafael Devers extended his hit streak to 12 straight games with a single in the 5th inning. He was then erased on an inning-ending double play.  Devers singled and scored on a wild pitch in the 7th.  He has 8 multi-hit games during his current hit streak.   Devers has 23 hits during his current hit streak. (13 Extra-Base Hits---10 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR).     

----- Have A Night: Masa Tanaka entered Monday in an 0-for-16 slide.  He broke that hitless streak with a hit in his 1st at-bat.  He had 4 hits on the night with a pair of singles and 2 Doubles.  

----- What's Next?: The Red Sox & Royals continue their series Tuesday night.  Brayan Bello goes against Seth Lugo.  Bello picked up his 10th win of the season with a victory against the Royals in the final game prior to the All-Star Break. He has not had a winning decision since.
