Locked On Saints - Daily Podcast On The New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints put on a big time effort and set the tone for the 2021 NFL season with a big win over the Green Bay Packers. However, they'll always look for ways to improve. With Erik McCoy expected to miss some time, the offensive line will get some attention with the addition of Austin Reiter. Cesar Ruiz and Calvin Throckmorton performed valiantly in McCoy's absence, but improvements are clear. Rookie cornerback Paulson Adebo performed well, but the secondary had some moments get away from them. how will that factor into Marshon Lattimore's expected absence? Doug Mouton of WWL joins to discuss Jameis Winston's play, the Saints' defense, and look ahead to the matchup in Carolina as the Saints look to get off to a hot start in 2021.

The New Orleans Saints continue to have to battle through adversity this offseason. Marshon Lattimore, Marcus Davenport, and Erik McCoy are all battling injuries, the Saints assistant coaches may be unavailable for a short while, and they continue to practice and play on the road for now. But it's not all doom and gloom as some injury prognoses are actually good news and Bradley Roby is officially on the 53-man roster. On his way to joining him is the reunion all Saints fans have been asking for: Kenny Stills. The former Saints' fourth round draft pick makes his return to the Big Easy after departing from his high-octane role with the team years ago. Does he still have it in him? Here's why he's a perfect fit for what the Saints are looking to do with Jameis Winston.

Then, a deep dive into the important numbers you need to know about the New Orleans Saints victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Paulson Adebo's fantastic rookie performance, Jameis' improbable completions, and the secret of hidden yardage.

The New Orleans Saints opened up their 2021 campaign with one of the most complete games of opening weekend across the NFL. Jameis Winston throw five touchdowns, the Saints' defense generates three takeaways, and the coaching staff paves the way to an absolute throttling. Meanwhile, Marshon Lattimore has a wild 72 hours ending in a historic contract extension and week-to-week injury status.

The New Orleans Saints could be facing the Green Bay Packers with a rookie starting at cornerback with Paulson Adebo. Marshon Lattimore was limited on Thursday, which further complicates a cornerback spot that's been getting a lot of attention lately. The said trade for Bradley Roby has finally been disclosed with the Saints sending a 2022 third round pick, and a conditional 6th in 2023. Did the Saints overpay? Or did Houston agree to pay?

The Saints' defense has a tough matchup ahead against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Big games from Cam Jordan, Marcus Davenport and more pass rushers will be necessary for a win. How the second level can eliminate someof the plays that beat the Saints in the 2020 season.

On offense, the Saints need a dynamic offense led by Jameis Winston and Alvin Kamara. But they'll need the help of their offensive line, and hidden yardage.

The NFL season kicks off for the New Orleans Saints this weekend as they "host" the Green Bay Packers in Jacksonville, FL following the relocation cause by Hurricane Ida.

The Green Bay Packers will be down David Bakhtiari and starting two new offensive lineman. Meanwhile, Cameron Jordan and Marcus Davenport will look to pin their ears back to get after Aaron Rodgers. The New Orleans Saints will look to figure out what their offense looks like with Jameis Winston under center for the first time in a full-matchup.

Ross Jackson of Locked On Saints and Peter Bukowski of Locked On Packers break down key matchups, the biggest questions, and what a win looks like for both teams. Alvin Kamra, Jameis Winston, Marshon Lattimore, and Kwon Alexander are all set to play key roles in this contest.

Today's Locked On Saints breaks down the intricacies and large changes you'll see with Jameis Winston leading the New Orleans Saints offense. Will it be perfect? Probably not. But will it be exciting? Sure looks like it.

Jameis Winston's role will be much different than Drew Brees's which affects the players around him. Erik McCoy making protection calls, Alvin Kamara perhaps more involved from the slot, and lots of play action, which asks more of the offensive line. Breaking it all down from a procedural vantage point to start the show.

Then, looking at three major route concepts used in Sean Payton's offense and how they will look different not just with Jameis Winston but with Marquez Callaway, Tre'Quan Smith, and Deonte Harris. And soon with Michael Thomas.

Then, host Ross Jackson closes out the show with a look at five storylines to watch before Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers. What will happen with Marshon Lattimore and Deonte Harris to start the season? Who will line up next to Demario Davis at linebacker? Will we get a look at a fully improved Jameis Winston? Five questions to we all seek the answers to as the Saints get ready for Week 1 NFL action.

The New Orleans Saints could end up with the best of both worlds. A strong-armed and improved passer in Jameis Winston and an unlocked offensive weapon with Taysom Hill. If all goes well, these two can go from competitors to dynamic duo.

Taysom Hill's run style is best suited for a catch and run role, his pass-catching acumen is best where Jameis Winston wants to throw, and his change of pace QB play could be more unpredictable. All in addition to his usual effectiveness as a redzone and third down bruising option.

Unfortunate news around former New Orleans Saint David Patten, and what to do about getting your tickets to New Orleans vs Green Bay Packers in Jacksonville.

The New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers will play their game in Jacksonville, FL following the impact of Hurricane Ida in the Gulf Region. In preparing for that matchup, the Saints have already begun to shuffle their roster and fill out their practice squad.

Jim Trotter of NFL.com and NFL Network joins to talk about the Saints' decision to start Jameis Winston as their 2021 quarterback, why Taysom Hill deserves some love, and what the Saints will look like with Jameis under center.

Jim also just can't understand why people expect the New Orleans Saints to fall off this year with all of the talent still on the roster including the leadership and all-pro level play of linebacker Demario Davis, the rising star Marquez Callaway, and one of the NFL's best in Alvin Kamara.
