Locked On Suns - Daily Podcast On The Phoenix Suns

Michael Pina joins the show to discuss why he thinks an Anthony Davis trade is realistic for Phoenix, how he would approach the sixth pick in the draft, and more.

We rank Deandre Ayton among trade chips in the AD sweepstakes, why Michael would not have moved on from Igor Kokoskov, and how the Suns can learn from the big men in this year’s NBA playoffs.

We dispatch from the pavilion at Talking Stick Resort Arena to give our instant reactions to Monty Williams’ introductory press conference.

After coaching through to Game Seven of the second round of the NBA playoffs, Williams provided insight into what stood out about the Suns, how well he gets along with general manager James Jones, and what the team will look like on the court under his leadership.

Check out our reactions if you missed the press conference or want some analysis of what Williams’ words mean for the franchise.

We are joined by Ross Homan of The Stepien to break down two players from each position group that the Suns could consider with the sixth pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Starting with wings Jarrett Culver and Cam Reddish, we go deep on these guys. Next are big men Brandon Clarke and De’Andre Hunter, followed by guards Darius Garland and Coby White.

Hear from Ross on why he’s so high on Culver, especially with the Suns, and some names he would consider at No. 32 for Phoenix.

On today’s episode, we talk our way through what just happened to the Phoenix Suns. After winning only 19 games this season, they unfortunately now don’t even have a top-5 selection falling to No. 6 overall. This had the highest probability of happening, but this scenario puts Phoenix in a predicament.

If the Suns stay where they are, there are five prospects who we believe check boxes: Jarrett Culver, Darius Garland, De’Andre Hunter, Brandon Clarke, and Coby White. Would drafting either of these players be enough to sell to a fan base looking for immediate improvement?

Also, how will this impact possible trades? If they stayed at No. 3, the value would have been more than it is now because of RJ Barrett. All of the sudden, Phoenix is picking in the third or fourth tier of prospects.

Two teams to keep an eye on with draft day wheeling-and-dealing involving the Suns’ selection: Memphis (Mike Conley) and Orlando (Aaron Gordon).

On today’s episode, we run through all the interesting connections taking place between the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans with special guest Mason Ginsberg of Bourbon Street Shots.

What type of coach are the Suns getting in Monty Williams? Ginsberg remembers the days in New Orleans, plus suggests why he will be a vastly different coach this time around. Also, how was Jeff Bower’s tenure in the Bayou?

We also go over David Griffin poaching longtime Suns head trainer Aaron Nelson. What does it mean for the Pelicans franchise to finally have stability with Griffin?

Finally, our final predictions and thoughts less than 24 hours before the NBA Draft Lottery. Will Zion Williamson end up in Phoenix, New Orleans, or elsewhere? We shall find out soon enough.

On today’s episode, we go in-depth on what exactly it takes to rebuild a culture from the ground up. What does it take to go from a losing environment to one that is conducive to winning?

Wes Goldberg, co-host of Locked On Heat, knows plenty about this after watching Suns GM James Jones and other veterans remake Miami’s image to what has continued throughout the last decade.

Jones is already working on remaking the Suns’ environment to his liking. Multiple changes to floor zero and the front office have happened over the last few weeks, including firing Igor Kokoskov for Monty Williams.

How long will it take for Jones to overhaul Phoenix’s image and on-court production behind a newfound culture of success? The answer honestly may surprise you.
