Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans have big needs at a number of places, but one that isn't discussed often is linebacker. Part of that is the resources already given to the defense and Cedric Gray's emergence, but the Titans still have a hole at the other starting spot and need a long-term solution. That means linebacker may be an option on Day 2 of the NFL Draft. If that is the case, Titans fans need to get familiar with names like Jake Golday, Anthony Hill, Jacob Rodriguez and Kyle Louis. If the Titans do wait until Day 3 for a linebacker addition, odds are it'll be a development player that will not start right away, which is fine too and the preferred outcome.

The Tennessee Titans are expected to consider many positions in the first round of the NFL Draft, but one fans need to consider more is Sonny Styles at linebacker. While there are legitimate reasons to dislike a Styles pick, there are also real reasons why the Titans would take him. Especially with how the board is expected to fall. Jeremiyah Love would be the better pick, but that is a matter of opinion. Along with that, Styles does slot perfectly into the Titans linebacker group and would immediately replace Cody Barton as the MIKE linebacker with Cedric Gray at the Will.

The Tennessee Titans may draft Jeremiyah Love in the first round and if they do, an edge rusher would be a perfect complement as it still remains a massive need for the team. If Love is the pick, who the Titans take at edge will depend on whether they want a speed or power edge. Names like Cashius Howell, R Mason Thomas and Malachi Lawrence would be great speed fits, but Zion Young, Keldric Faulk and TJ Parker could be good power fits. The question is do the Titans think they have enough power to prefer speed, or is power the new everything. However, the Titans could go for an edge later in the draft and if they do, there will still be good depth available.

The Tennessee Titans could be selecting an edge at the top of the first round and it comes down to three names: David Bailey, Arvell Reese and Rueben Bain. Bailey will be having his official visit with the Titans on Wednesday and most likely is the top player on the Titans' board. However, there are some concerns with Bailey the Titans would need to iron, including whether Bailey will be available to draft at all. Arvell Reese is the next consensus rusher, but he also comes with his concerns. Chief among them, what position he would be maximized at. Edge or Linebacker, or nothing at all? There is the chance though you get a hybrid game-wrecker and who better to make it happen than Robert Saleh. Finally, Rueben Bain, who may be the best of the three, reportedly isn't high on the Titans' wish list, but we can only hope that isn't true because Bain is a force who can still help the Titans even if the fit isn't as clean.

The Tennessee Titans could be looking at edge rushers at the top of the NFL Draft, but according to a recent report from Daniel Jeremiah, the Titans are not interested in Rueben Bain. There are plenty of reasons from scheme fit to arm length that could make Bain not an option, so this would not be a hard report to believe. However, Bain is still a fantastic player and should be the pick if the board falls as many expect. If we are to believe the reporting though, that would set up an interesting showdown. Jeremiyah Love would be the favorite, but recent reporting from Todd McShay indicates Carnell Tate and Sonny Styles could be top-5 picks. If that is true, Tate or Styles could be a reasonable opponent for Love as the selection at four. Things are heating up!!!

The Tennessee Titans have a massive hole at right guard and it is a dangerous place to be with Cam Ward going into Year 2. Filling that hole with a worthy option will require a valuable pick to be used because there are only four, five aggressively, guards in this class that can be counted on to start right away. Names like Vega Ioane, Emmanuel Pregnon, Chase Bistonis, Keylan Rutledge and Gennings Dunker. If the Titans miss on those options, they will be in a rough spot because the drop off at interior offensive line comes on Day 3. You will only be left with riskier options or Cordell Volson and Jackson Slater.

The Tennessee Titans kicked off their offseason program on Tuesday and Cam Ward was the first in the building. It is important that Ward and his teammates hit the ground running as a new coaching staff tries to implement a new scheme and culture. Jeffery Simmons also being there on Day 1 says a lot about how committed this locker room is. However, any level of commitment will require a better roster and there are big holes still to fill. Like center, where the Titans need one of their top prospects in draft to be a starter immediately. They can get that in the top tier, but there may also be some Day 3 options who could fill the void.

The Tennessee Titans have a lot of options at the top of the NFL Draft, but the best one is a potential trade back. It may not be a likely outcome, but it would still be the most desirable regardless of who it required them to pass on. No single player in this draft, including Jeremiyah Love or Rueben Bain or David Bailey, is good enough to reject a chance to double your top 100 picks or add capital for the 2027 draft. This doesn't mean they aren't great prospect, it just means their value is outweighed. The downside to this approach is obviously missing out on good players, but again this class doesn't represent traditional can't-miss options like normal classes would.

The Tennessee Titans could be in a prime spot to garner a trade offer and the Dallas Cowboys have been reportedly sniffing around moving up for a pass rusher. If the Cowboys are serious about a deal the Titans could strike and set themselves up for a fantastic draft. Getting two first round picks allows them to snag two elite weapons in Jermod McCoy and KC Concepcion while still leaving ammo for the Titans to find starters on the offensive line with their mid round picks. Adding Emmanuel Pregnon and Logan Jones gives you two day-one starters. Finally, with all the needs hit, the Titans can add role players on Day 3 with starter upside.
