Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans made MASSIVE moves on Day 1 of NFL Free Agency, but there is still work left to do. Day 2 will likely have less fireworks, but with big needs still remaining, the work can't be done. The Titans still need to address the interior offensive line as well as add depth along the defense. How much cap space do they have to do it? The contracts aren't all in yet, but we can do a roundabout guess as to where the Titans might be and if they need more room, they have plenty of avenues to make some by cutting L'Jarius Sneed, Calvin Ridley or Tony Pollard.

The Tennessee Titans SPEND BIG on the first day of free agency with deals to Wan'Dale Robinson, Mitch Trubisky and Daniel Bellinger on offense and John Franklin-Myers, Alontae Taylor and CorDale Flott on defense. These were mostly fantastic moves at big spots of need for the Titans and every move makes a ton of sense. What comes next now? The Titans still need help on the interior offensive line, on the edge and need depth at linebacker, safety and running back. How much more can we realistically expect them to do? Tyler goes over the remaining options in free agency. Finally, Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi opened the checkbook on Monday and some may push back like they spent too much, but that doesn't really make any sense considering the Titans don't really have anyone to spend on in the coming years and will not be hurt by any of the deals they signed today.

The Tennessee Titans got free agency started with three big signings on the offensive side of the ball with Wan'Dale Robinson, Mitch Trubisky and Daniel Bellinger. Robinson is a perfect for Cam Ward and the Titans offense and at the price tag, Titans fans should be over the moon excited. Trubisky and Bellinger are simple depth adds on offense, but are desperately needed Daboll acolytes. They can teach the offense and add value to the young guys in the locker room currently. It also spells the end for Will Levis and Chig Okonkwo for the Titans. Two moves that needed to happen. The Titans aren't done yet!! Defense is still a big concern going forward.

FREE AGENCY HAS ARRIVED!!!! The Tennessee Titans step into Monday with nearly $100 million in cap space and should be looking to make a BIG SPLASH. Help is needed at wide receiver and names like Wan'Dale Robinson, Alec Pierce and Romeo Doubs are all viable options. Outside of receiver, expect the Titans to make a big move at linebacker with Devi Lloyd potentially making sense, but Tremaine Edmunds also fits the bill. Defensive line needs some help as well and John Franklin-Myers continues to make the most sense, but the Titans need help at edge too and will likely go value shipping there. Offensive line is still a massive concern though as center and right guard remain open, but with center options dwindling, Tyler Linderbaum is the only top option remaining on the board. The Titans need depth across the board and it may not happen fast, but expect the Titans to look for nearly 10 players to add. There is talk the Titans are still connected to Kenneth Walker and Trey Hendrickson as well, but there is a leverage aspect involved that must be recognized.

The Tennessee Titans have big holes at primary needs like wide receiver, edge and cornerback, but they also need to add depth at key spots like running back, tight end and quarterback. For running back, depth names like Tyler Allgeier, Raachad White and Brian Robinson make a lot of sense whether they hope to draft Jeremiyah Love or not. Tight end is a spot where the Titans need a versatile player like Daniel Bellinger or Cade Otton to pair nicely with Gunnar Helm. Also, Will Levis could be a trade option so bringing in a veteran backup who can support Cam Ward is the perfect move and Tyrod Taylor has experience in Brian Daboll's offense, making him an excellent fit.

The Tennessee Titans are days away from free agency kicking off and it has become clear that two prime options on the market, Kenneth Walker and Trey Hendrickson, will not be signing in Nashville. This is equal parts disappointing and understandable as the two positions are prime targets at the top of the NFL Draft and it makes sense the Titans will just go with value at the two spots. Also, the free agent frenzy got going a little early when center Tyler Biadisz signed with the Los Angeles Chargers, but the Chicago Bears released Tremaine Edmunds, who could be a great option for the Titans at linebacker if they don't want to spend big at the position.

The Tennessee Titans have two open spots on the offensive line after cutting Lloyd Cushenberry and you should not expect them to fill either spot with a rookie in the draft. The Titans must protect Cam Ward and relying on a rookie to do that job would be a mistake. That means signing a veteran at both guard and center make sense and specifically at center, Tyler Linderbaum and Connor McGovern make the most sense. At guard, the Titans appear likely to bring back Kevin Zeitler, but names like Dylan Parham, Alijah Vera-Tucker and Wyatt Teller could make sense as well. Finally, the Titans will need to find a kicker and punter and while Joey Slye returning would be wise, a replacement for Johnny Hekker is required and stealing Tommy Townsend from the Houston Texans would be an excellent move.

The Tennessee Titans could be setting up to make a splash signing at a position no one is talking about -- LINEBACKER and the best name on the market is Devin Lloyd. The former first rounder from the Jacksonville Jaguars makes a ton of sense when you look at what the Titans want and need at the position: SPEED & LENGTH. Lloyd would be a tremendous fit next to Cedric Gray and would be a massive upgrade over Cody Barton. The Titans could go cheaper with an option like Bobby Okereke as well and it would give them a chance to find a young linebacker in the draft to develop. On the interior defensive line, John Franklin-Myers seems like a LOCK to end up in Nashville and he would be a perfect fit in Robert Saleh's defense, but we already have proof of that. Finding more depth on the D-Line is actually the interesting thing to look at. Finally, the Titans need a third safety as well and Nick Cross makes a ton of sense as a versatile chess piece to pair with Kevin Winston and Amani Hooker. If the Titans look cheaper, a Saleh stalwart like Jason Pinnock also works. However, the big name that would cause the biggest frenzy would be the return of Kevin Byard!!

The Tennessee Titans had a DISASTER at cornerback with essentially zero starters. That fact along with a scheme change means the Titans need to go out and get multiple corners and at least one high level one that could be Alontae Taylor, Riq Woolen or Jaylen Watson. The next tier down includes some solid options like Montaric Brown, Cam-Taylor Britt or Erik Stokes. However, the Titans need to stay away from old veterans with 'name value' like Jaire Alexander, Trevon Diggs and Marshon Lattimore who have played their best ball and value themselves higher than their play warrants.
