Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans are set to capitalize on the Indianapolis Colts stupidity after Alec Pierce announced he would be hitting the open market. The wide receiver has been reported to be one of the Titans top targets in free agency and his skillset pairs perfectly with Cam Ward's current deficiencies. Pierce was expected to go back to the Colts, but now that they have botched the Daniel Jones tag situation, the Titans could be the primary benefactors. Pierce would command a lofty salary, but one that the Titans could afford. This calls into question though whether that would affect the Titans pursuit of Wan'Dale Robinson. Robinson seemed like a lock to join the Titans, but Pierce was always considered the better option and it would be unlikely, but not impossible, the Titans would want to grab both.

Trey Hendrickson did not get the franchise tag from the Cincinnati Bengals and that should make him the TOP PRIORITY in free agency for the Tennessee Titans. Hendrickson is a perfect fit in Robert Saleh's defense and would give them their only chance at a true alpha pass rusher in this year's player acquisition cycle. Hendrickson may be past 30 and coming off an injury, but look deeper and it's clear those are not high-level concerns. Outside of Hendrickson, there are still plenty of great options like Odafe Oweh, Jaelen Phillips and Boya Mafe. Also, cheaper options like Kingsley Enagbare, Kwity Paye and Arnold Ebiketie make a ton of sense as depth pieces. Finally, there are a wave of much older edges like Cam Jordan, Khalil Mack, Jadeveon Clowney and Joey Bosa who the Titans should stay away from.

The Tennessee Titans have been linked to Maxx Crosby recently and the truth is, for the price Crosby will require, it makes zero sense for the Titans to acquire Crosby in a trade. Crosby would likely require multiple firsts plus some additional mid-round picks and the Titans are not in a position to make that kind of deal, even if Crosby would be a perfect fit. However, Titans fans continue to underrate Crosby as a player and if the price were cheap enough, the Titans would jump at the chance to add The Condor. The pushback to Crosby just doesn't make a lot of sense.

The Tennessee Titans must sign a wide receiver in free agency and the best options on the board are Alec Pierce and Wan'Dale Robinson. If the Titans whiff on either of these options, it will hard to be super excited about the offseason additions barring an unexpected trade for a better player. If the Titans do miss on both, the next best option is Romeo Doubs. Doubs is a good player, but just has a few more concerns than the top picks. Unlikely as it seems, Mike Evans would also be a good fit for Cam Ward. Finally, there are a few players the Titans need to avoid at receiver and former Tennessee Volunteer Jauan Jennings is at the top of that list along with other older veterans like Keenan Allen, Deebo Samuel and Tyreek Hill.

TENNESSEE TITANS MOCK DRAFT: The Tennessee Titans rumored interest in Jeremiyah Love creates an interesting mock draft scenario. If Love is the pick in the first round, what happens after? The Titans have a chance to add some serious playmakers with their Day 2 picks like an Omar Cooper at wide receiver and a Devin Moore at cornerback. If the Titans were to add those three picks to a solid free agent haul, it could be a perfect combination that makes the Love pick feel a lot more digestible.

New rumors coming out of the NFL Combine are saying the Tennessee Titans have Jeremiyah Love as their top player in the NFL Draft and, in theory, would pick him with their first selection. This makes a ton of sense as Love would be a game changer from Day 1, but it also could be the Titans trying to drum up interest to allow them to trade back. All things are on the table this time of year. More scuttlebutt coming out of the Combine, the Titans appear to be in on wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson and it sounds like the New York Giants are expecting him to walk as well. Another free agent, John Franklin-Myers, could be a top priority for the Titans as well and his recent activity makes it sound like a real possibility. Finally, another report over the weekend indicated that Chig Okonkwo and Kevin Zeitler are being prioritized by the Titans as re-sign candidates, but neither make a whole lot of sense.

In this episode, we break down the blockbuster player-for-player swap sending T'Vondre Sweat to the New York Jets in exchange for Pro Bowl defensive end Jermaine Johnson. We dive into why this is a massive win for the Tennessee Titans, securing a proven, high-motor pass rusher who fits Robert Saleh’s defensive identity perfectly. But does the arrival of Johnson change the plan for the No. 4 overall pick? With the NFL Combine in full swing, we analyze the standout performers and discuss whether the Titans should still pull the trigger on an elite EDGE prospect like Rueben Bain Jr. or if the focus shifts to a "blue-chip" tackle or playmaker.

The Tennessee Titans traded for edge rusher Jermaine Johnson on Thursday and some fans are taking that as a sign the Titans will not go edge with the first pick in the NFL Draft, but that is a total misread of not only Johnson's impact on the defense, but also how the Titans should be approaching the pick. The Titans may have added a rotation edge, but edge rusher is still a major need and this trade shouldn't affect how the Titans look at the pick. Whether they are interested in Jeremiyah Love, Carnell Tate, Makai Lemon or Sonny Styles, there interest level should not be affected by adding Johnson. Where you could see an affect though is WHICH edge rusher they target in free agency or the draft from a stylistic standpoint. Johnson is a physical edge who is good against the run, but he isn't a pure speed guy and isn't super comfortable kicking inside either. If anything, Johnson is similar to David Bailey and could lead the Titans to Rueben Bain or Arvell Reese, but that doesn't HAVE to be the case.

Jermaine Johnson became the newest Tennessee Titans defender on Thursday when he was acquired in a trade that sent T'Vondre Sweat to the New York Jets. Johnson is a physical freak from a stature standpoint and combines that with elite football character. The combination makes Johnson a perfect fit with the Titans and Robert Saleh. That doesn't mean that Johnson is set to be the Titans 'alpha rusher' that they still desperately need. Johnson is not an elite rusher and there is still concern about his recovery from an Achilles injury, but Johnson can add to a pass rush stable that needs to be juiced up before the season begins. Finally, John Butchko from Locked on Jets joins the show to give his inside take on the trade and who Johnson is as a player and a person.
