Locked On Wild - Your Daily Minnesota Wild Podcast

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, our official NHL correspondent Spoked Z joins the show for a full recap of the madness that was Day 1 of NHL Free Agency. We look at some of the biggest moves at the goalie position, including Philip Grubauer heading to Seattle, Marc-Andre Fleury heading to Chicago where he will probably retire, and Darcy Kuemper going to Colorado. We also try to figure out what the Carolina Hurricanes overall plan for the offseason is. We finish with a look at the Wild's moves in free agency so far, whether or not Zdeno Chara would be a potential fit and then breaking Wild news comes across the wire as we discuss that. ABSOLUTE INSANITY AND THAT IS ONLY PART 1 OF THE CONVERSATION!

On today's episode of Locked on Wild we gear up for the start of NHL Free Agency. We begin by looking at the signings of Dakota Mermis, Kyle Rau and Andrew Hammond to return to the organization. Will any of those guys have a chance to make the Wild roster, or will they be more likely to play with Iowa especially with the Taxi Squad not being necessary this year. We move to whether or not the Wild should sign impending free agents Nick Bonino and Ian Cole to return next year. The reality is that both would be welcome additions to the 2021-22 roster but other moves need to be made first before they can be addressed so they will likely head elsewhere. We finish by looking at free agents who have been linked to the Wild, including Alex Goligoski, Nick Foligno, and a player they should absolutely target in Pius Suter. FREE AGENCY IS UPON US!

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we dive into the Wild's 2021 Draft Class with Gabe Foley of Recruit Scouting. We start with some overall draft thoughts, and whether shortening the draft is a good idea. We move to Jesper Wallstedt. Does Gabe think he has what it takes to become a quality NHL starter? What can we expect from Carson Lambos? How big of a home run pick was Jack Peart in the second round? We then move to the remaining picks for the Wild and wonder who between Caedan Bankier, Kyle Masters, Josh Pillar and Nate Benoit has the best chance of making it to the NHL level. Gabe also gives his thoughts on the floors and ceilings of each selection. All in all a GREAT weekend for Bill Guerin, Judd Brackett and the rest of the Wild draft team!

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Alex Micheletti joins the show to recap a busy week in the NHL last week. We start by analyzing some of the biggest trades from around the league. Will Chicago get hurt more by the prospects they gave up for Seth Jones, or the extension they signed him to? Are we surprised that Jack Eichel didn't go anywhere? What exactly are the Carolina Hurricanes doing? We then move to the NHL Draft and recap what the Wild did in the first round. Were we surprised that they didn't draft a center? Plus how refreshing were Bill Guerin's comments about letting Judd Brackett handle the draft entirely. Do we like Jesper Wallstedt? What about the selection of hometown kid Jack Peart? Plus we call out Montreal for their first round blunder. We finish with a little free agency discussion and whether the Wild will be more active on the trade front or by targeting free agent centers?

On today's episode of Locked on Wild we start by reacting to the first round of the NHL Draft. Jack Eichel wasn't traded but Sam Reinhart was. What effect will that have on the Wild's ability to add a center via trade or does it make it more likely the Wild just go free agent shopping instead? We react to both the Jesper Wallstedt and Carson Lambos picks with notes from The Athletic and Elite Prospects. What does the Wallstedt selection say about Kaapo Kahkonen? Are we surprised the Wild didn't grab a center? We finish with more of the Seattle Expansion Draft crossover from Friday.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Brett Marshall of the Sound the Foghorn Podcast joins the show! We start by discussing the actual terms Kirill Kaprizov could be offered by the KHL and why it's nowhere near what he will earn in the NHL and thus is not a viable option for him. We move to Kevin Fiala's negotiations and if the Wild will be able to get him signed as well. On the Expansion front, we discuss why Kaapo Kahkonen being taken by the Kraken wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if the Wild view him as little more than a backup goalie. We look at some of the other players the Wild didn't protect and whether or not we think Seattle can make a legitimate run in year 1. We finish by discussing the NHL Draft, some options for the Wild with their picks and a couple of interesting moments involving high picks with character issues.
